Hi...hope everyone is havibg a great day so far,

jusr a quick question if anyone would know.....doesn't side pain and mucous at the time of the side pain indicate ovulation, I mean it always has for me in the past which would mean release of hormones? I had side pain again this month, I have posted before how it has been getting longer and more symptomatic, well this mo. was no different and went on for a week and bounced from side to side, the day after it all stopped I started another cycle which was about 11 days early, which is not at all unusual, anyway this "cycle" not sure what to call it if it even was a cycle was almost non existent, I mean it was there or something was there, but I only had to wear 1 light days one day, and that was not even close to being full, the rest was spotting when I went to the bathroom, this went on for 5/6 day and yesterday nothing....my point is I thought with all this ovulation pain and mucous we produce hormones. but it would seem as if I didn't produce much if any....I have always guaged everything by these symptoms of ovulation, if I felt it I would get a period, but 2x's now one being completely missed and now this, could I be getting the symptoms, even the mucous and still not be ovulating, and also waht would you call this last cycle is it a light period, I have never had a light one so I don't know what that means to all of you when you say your period was light. Any insight or thoughts, not that I need answers, just wondering....

I hear what you are saying about ovulation. I also gauge myself based upon how I ovulate....

Some months I can actually get quite crampy just prior and during ovulation. I think though as we age, although our body is going thru the "motion" of ovulation, we are what I like to call, shooting blanks... Meaning no egg. Not to get too gross, but... I have read when we ovulate w/o producing an egg (meaning our hormones are sending the signal but let's say misfires...shooting blanks); our symptoms will surely be a little different, esp w/mucus that ahh how to put this...hmmmm. ahhhh more elastic, oh here we go, ah gosh this will get funny... but, you know how the white of an egg is before you cook it, well kind of like that.... More stretchy...

The only thing that I can think of, is perhaps your body is "ovulating" but you are shooting blanks. The cramping from both sides, I never had that w/ovulation, only w/my cycle.

Have you ever had your hormones level tested? That might be a good idea.

Now, the one thing you may want to watch out for is ovarian cyst, a friend of mine had that once. Oh trust me, according to her, you will know cuz it is painful. I have also heard that you can actual get an ovarian cyst, then the your body actually dissolves it on it's own....

My only suggestion would be to check w/your gyno....

Dont know how old your are, have you been going thru peri for awhile? If so, perhaps you are moving closer to the next level, perhaps some other ladies had experience this, and they can help better...

not to get gross back at ya, but the mucous is not the egg white consistancyas it used to be in the past, it is alot thincker and discolored, but there is alot of it, ok now that we got that out...I have had 3 ultrasounds and each one there was a cyst on my ovary which does desolve, I guess.

I am 42 and have had irregular cycles for about 3 years now, my last hormone check in Jan was fsh 66, estro 12 and they didn't check progest.

I never thought about shooting blanks, interesting....I just thought if you felt it it must be happening.

I can't go back to the DR.....I went for my physical in Jan. but that is it as I can't put my family farther into debt with tests and so forth. Thanks for the imput, Mikki

Hi sun

I know that sometimes there is no egg produced but the sack that holds it is still produced and it ruptures as normal and releases homones. You still get your period all the same. Also you can ovulate from both sides in one cycle.

I have ovarian cysts luckily they don't cause too much discomfort. (knock on wood).

Best

Yea I hear you about the $$$ thing..

Hey Maura thanks for that insight on ovulating on both sides, I never knew that...

Also thinking back, (I am 42 too), few months before the truly peri hell started, again, not be gross, for several cycles I was getting the thicker and discolored at ovulation.. Kind of freaked me out, s/w doctor she said that it can be normal to get a little blood tinged or even sometimes light brownish in color... She checked me and all okay.... This discoloration too, I would think, could be the disolved cyst....

Take care. rebecca

The shooting blanks for me was just a theory of mine, (like I am so expert - not LOL), but then I did read an article that supported what I was thinking. I actually think someone had posted it on here a while back. I will see if I can find that article and put up the link. It was a good article, and explained alot of the ovulation symptoms that I was having...
