Hi All

I want to run this by you ladies.

About 2 years ago I went to the doctor complaining of a weird fluttering or beating in my throat. Almost at the top of my chest. She sent me for an ultrasound of my thyroid. They found nodules on it. Then they sent me for a radioactive iodine test. That was normal. Then subsequent ultrasounds showed no growth or shrinkage.

So that was that.
After reading other posts about heart palps or esphoigal (sp?) difficulties I am wondering if maybe my dr didn't hit the mark at all??

All opinions welcome.

Thanks
Maura

I often say that my heart feels like it's coming up through my throat when the palps hit me.....I generally get most of my palps right where the adam's apple would be if I was a guy. They are scary....but not uncommon there.

Hi Meduim!

YES I was going to say "exactly where my adam's apple would be"...

Wierd eh?? So should I see the dr about my heart?? I know that my cholesteral is fine and my blood pressure is always fine. Is that good enough?

Ya think... i say that all the time... I cant tell you how many times I would drive myself nuts trying to understand what in the world was happening to me.... The one thing that I think has helped me the most, is that I am not alone in this.... Therefore, I am must not be crazy.... LOL (Well perhaps little....) rolleyes.gif

Hi there,

I have a goiter with cysts and nodules, babe.......my thyroid surgeon had me get CT with contrast.......if there is no goiter down in the chest cavity or grown around into the oesophagus area, you shouldn't have any problems from there........I also get palps in my throat but I think that is more from peri than anything else(like some of the other lovelies on here!).......but if I get REALLY stressed or angry, my goiter can get tender to touch, and press back a bit on my throat......yep, funny stuff. Does your dr think you have any "hot" nodules and are looking at a biopsy? If you want to talk thyroid, feel free to PM me.

Gosh, poor endocrine system......doesn't know what it is doing.......

You take good care......... smile.gif

Hi Maura -

I've been getting those "throat palps" before my period for several years. Now, in peri, I'm noticing I get them a little more frequently. They are wierd and make me kind of spaz out for a second, like I need to take a big gaspy breath and pull myself together. It's ooky, but I don't worry so much since I noticed its relation to my cycle.

Good times ; )
