If you are having ear problems have your doctor take a look!

My right ear has been feeling odd for months. Pressure plus a sound like when you hear a baby heartbeat on an ultrasound (upon waking). Plus dizziness, itching!

But when it started to hurt I went to urgent care last week and the doctor said I had impacted ear wax? Sounds so gross! They tried removing it but it wouldn’t come out.
After treating it myself I felt some relief yet my ear still hurt.

Follow up today with my family doctor and he said there is an outer ear infection below where the wax was. (plus half the wax is still there sad.gif

Now I’m using antibiotic ear drops, so hope it will clear up soon!

Gross Gross Gross>>never had anything like that!

PS: I do not use q-tips in my ears so not sure how it happened!

And my left ear was perfect?

Snowmoon, My ears hurt me often. If my ear itches inside, it hurts like crazy to scratch. Every dr. I have seen in the past year has told me that I have ear wax. I have tried cleaning it out myself, but I always end up making it worse. Ears stopped up, unable to hear. I asked my primary care physician to clean them out for me, guess what he said. He said, "I'm not gonna do it today." Then he said he is not gonna reschedule me. Guess my list of symptoms was too long for him!!! Don't think I'm going back either!

TW> what a mean ole doctor!!!!
I never realize how much ear wax could hurt and cause all kinds of problems.
Water can get behind it and get infected Yikes!!!
Maybe try a local urgent care clinic? Place I went to had some kind of blaster (hurt like heck tho and still didn't work) but at least she tried.

She told me to put some drops she wrote down the name>every night for 4 days leave it in all night (with cotton) to loosen it up.
That stuff can be like cement!
Or Maybe go see a ent? I still may end up at a ent if it doesn't feel better.

I had that too... OMGish it stinks...

I started to do what my grandma used to do to me when I was little... Everytime I would go to her house, she would tale peroxide and pour it into my ear... Now I am not saying that once you get that build it is going to help, cuz trust me, when I had it, it did not... It was just like way too much... But now I do it about once a month, and I have been great. I do it to my son now, and he has been good too..

Also, if you suffer from allergies, and sinus, NEVER hold one side of your nose and blow. My doctor kept warning me, and though I would try not too, I would... That congestion then can build up behind your middle ear, OMGish, it is the worse... So when you blow your nose, blow from both sides, or it can push back into the eustaian (sp) tube, that is the worst....

Oh wow! I learned some great ear tips!! Thanks all. I get wax impacted every few years. The last time they did the blaster thing it hurt like crazy and didn't do a thing. (I think it was worse because water got trapped behind!!) The earwax remover over the counter stuff worked really well for me too. Later, I learned that the blaster thing is dangerous and ear nose and throat specialists don't recommend it at all (great!) can damage your eardrum.

My DH used to go to the dr. to have the wax removed but then he tried ear candles and swears by them.....if you don't know what they are, just google to find out.You wouldn't believe how much wax comes out when you do the candling....it's gross but he hasn't had ear problems since using them every now and then.

Anyone ever use ear candles?

A few months back my left ear kept feeling like something was crawling around in there. blink.gif It went on for a few days so I went to the clinic, doc said nope nothing in there. If fact you have about the cleanest ears I have ever seen!!

Well it quit a week or so later, then came back and then it was gone. Musta been some nerve...who knows. If I knew that I would have saved myself $200.00 mad.gif
