Hi Ladies

Ok, perhaps you good ladies could help me understand: I have always been a person who has to wear extra clothes to keep warm, I have always felt the cold - even on a warmish day i never found myself to be too hot. But for a few months now - mainly in the mornings I get absolutely boiling hot and covered in sweat from the chest up. This can happen anywhere even if its a really cold day - I could be doing housework, making a cup of tea, just getting dressed or even just doing nothing. They seem to last ages, then all of a sudden I go chilly and have to put a sweater on!!

I am confused biggrin.gif Are they just called day sweats? And is it anything to do with these hormones changing?? I have had occasional Hot flushes mainly at night, but that is more like a surge that comes over in a wave etc - these others just make me feel like I am sweating excessively and last quite a while.

Thanks for helping me to understand.

Hugs

I've had this only a few times, but too thought it was a hot flash, but it lasted much longer than a 'flash' and it would only be in the morning. Haven't had it in a while, but I do suspect it had to do with hormones.

Jackie, I had them for years beginning in my early 40's. If I ever had a night sweat it was only a couple of times, but morning comes and I was totally miserable! Putting on my makeup was useless! I couldn't get myself dry enough to even apply it! A very good friend of mine found this really cool neck tie type thing that you soak in water and keep in the fridge for these times. It feels soooooo good!!!!!!!!

Hon at this point I literally sweat all day, some days worst than others, but yep.... I mean I could be sitting here typing, and literally feel the sweat start dripping down my arm, gross, ahh yea..... I too use to be real sensative to the cold, but then again, there are somedays that I chilled.... but usually, esp lately, sweat, sweat, and then sweat some more....

Am I ever familiar with the sweats!!! I remember having the morning sweats which would come while I was getting dressed. How lovely to put on a nice dry shirt, look in the mirror , and observe wet spots on your back, side and under arm huh.gif.

I still have hot flashes, but lately I have been dripping sweat without the flashes. This occurred a couple of months ago while at a job interview...I was embarrassed ohmy.gif . They probably thought I was sweating because I was nervous.

Anyone have any remedies please share smile.gif.

Thank you ladies for your replies. It helps to know I am not alone in feeling sweaty!!!! biggrin.gif

I don't have night sweats any more but as soon as I awake in the morning off I go!
I am always better in the afternoon and evening. I always have just one as I lie down at night and then that's it until the morning.
I think it's to do with adrenal glands being at a low ebb first thing. There is no remedy apart from staying calm laugh.gif Some hope of that!

Oh My!

I'm so glad to read about someone else like me! I get showered, perfumed, and if I'm lucky enough not to flash before I get dressed, I do so....only to start sweating like a racehorse on Derby Day the second I'm finished dressing up!!!!! GRRRRRRRRR! mad.gif

Tell me, does ANYTHING help???? My big sister has 4th stage breast cancer, discovered when it was in the 4th stage, too! Despite mammograms! She was post menopausal when it was diagnosed. I've been suffering with severe hot flashes and night sweats for 3 solid years now. I don't sleep because of them, and I'm flashing every hour during the day, sometimes several times an hour. I've cut out caffeine after one cup in the morning, am managing to avoid sugar, take evening primrose oil, cohosh, flaxseed oil. I've tried accupuncture (costly, and initially effective, but then not helpful), and the dreaded EFFEXOR. I put on 30 pounds in a year from the effexor and it took me 4 months and a week off from work to withdraw from it. It made me sweat WORSE after an initial period of relief. I don't drink or smoke and I run 20-25 miles a week, and have been a runner for over half my life. I'm 55 years old, but don't feel this old except for this CHANGE thing. dry.gif

After one of those morning sweats yesterday I was ready to call my practitioner and beg her for HRT.

Oh boy, Accordionlady - All this sweating stinks!! wink.gif My morning sweating is MY worst. Luckily i'm not too bad during the night. I haven't found anything that works, yet.

I am completing a daily diary at the moment to see if these sweats follow a trend, just wondering if they are more common for me at certain times of the month - because for the last 3 days I haven't been as bad - and at the moment this is the begining of my cycle. I remember last month from mid-cycle onwards was my worst - so just going to observe, and see if they follow a pattern. In the meantime if I find anything that works I will let you know.

My dear Friend
I am 58 years old and excessive sweating is just one of the many reasons I stay on HRT.Honestly I have done my research and weighed up the quality against the quantity.of my life
I understand your fears and please accept my heartfelt sadness for your sister. All I know is that ladies who have never taken HRT in their lives and got cancer.I am not saying this to push anyone on anything but perhaps u could consider BHRT which would specifically tailored to your needs.
Your exercise regime is phenomenal!but you do need some rest from these flushes.Prozac is supposed to help.A very low dose may do the trick.
Of course I am not a Doctor,it just seems a shame to have this continuous sweating. And honestly I know a lady well into her fifties who gets horrible sweats.

I sincerely pray that you do find some answers and get some relief

Warm Wishes

I'm sorry you're going through this too - I seem to just get the "hotties" without the sweating bit.

My friend who is the same age who didn't have children suddenly stopped her periods a year ago, so far no sign of anymore, and is suffering with sweating so yes we're all different. We've known each other since we were 8 and more or less started together at 11 but I had 3 children but I am still cursed with the dreaded "curse!"
