I usually find the best treatment for anything like that is wait half an hour.

But I would also recommend you go see a chiropractor. There may be a trapped nerve or something.

I've had a "dead" area on my left thigh ever since pregnancy. It's not getting worse or better and doesn't hurt or limit me at all, so I just ignore it.

Could be something to do with your back. I have a numb area on my foot but also experienced periods of numbness and tingling in the lower leg which came and went. I was referred to a Podiatrist. The numbness in the foot turned out to be Morton's Neuroma - a foot condition. However, the Podiatrist thought the sporadic numbness in the lower leg was related to my back. I couldn't see how numbness and tingling in a part of the body so distant from the back originated in the back. However the Podiatrist explained that the system of nerves is quite complex. I haven't experienced numbness in my lower leg at all recently. I think it might relate to posture. Certainly sitting at the computer for long periods can cause all kinds of problems. We're meant to get up and walk around every fifteen minutes I think!
