Hi,

My doctor called and just said my hormone and thyroid tests were normal, but I got them to mail me the results to see how "normal" I was. I just don't understand what all this means.

My FSH is 9.0. The ranges are follicular 3.5-12.5, midcycle 4.7-21.5, luteal 1.7-7.7 ERT 8.2-97.8

My LH is 2.5. The ranges are follicular 2.4-12.6, midcycle 14.0-95.6, luteal 1.0-11.4

The blood was drawn about 2 days after the last day of my period. I don't know which phase that is (sorry, I'm new to all this).

TSH is 1.66, range is .45-4.5. Is this my thyroid??

If anyone can help, that would be great. God forbid my doctor explain it!

Tracy:
Your doc checked pituitary hormone levels ONLY. And, they are indeed well within normal ranges. However, if you are having problems/issues, it would be good to know what those are...if you are indeed symptomatic (hot flashes, anxiety, depression, etc.), then your doc needs to check further. Estrogen levels (at a minimum, estradiol) and more in-depth thyroid testing.

I agree you need more tested than that.

OK, so then what do I ask for? Can anyone tell me what phase I was in at the time of my testing...follicular or luteal? I'm new to all this and need some help understanding. I not even sure what range I am supposed to be looking at at this point.

You should be tested between day 19 and 23 (luteal phase).

Have them test

The three E's :estriol, estradiol, estrone
progesterone
testosterone (both free and total)
DHEA
cortisol
thyroid which is T3,T4 and reverse T3

As far as ranges, they vary from lab to lab. I think I posted my doctors recommended "optimal ranges" at one point. I would post them again if I had them available they are at my mothers in my binder she borrowed lol. Anyway there is a bit of difference between the lab ranges and his ranges, so what one doctor would say is normal another will disagree.

Thank you...one question. I am on birth control pills due to my PCOS, that's why we had to test during the week of the sugar pills. If I do the test during day 19-23, won't the pills effect the results?
