I have written on the board several times under different topics since I have had so many odd symptoms. I'm sorry if I am so preoccupied with my own nightmare that I feel like I haven't really helped anyone else other then to write that I too have the same problem & that they are not alone. I have extreme insomnia, sleeping one hour then jumping up out of bed with panic? tension in stomach, zap in head. I don't even know. Also RLS, now panic atttacks, fast heart beat. My new one is starting six weeks ago extreme stiffness in leg coming from side by knee. It has gotten worse so I went to ortho today. NOw I had just asked all the ladies here about magnesium/calcium supplements. It caught my interest since some ladies found relief from the insomnia and anxiety. (Oh, I forgot that I've been getting my period every 23 days now for about one year. Used to be 30. Now I am 5 days late and I'm wondering if this is it. will this be the first skip. HOw will I feel now? More anxiety? I know when I went to ortho today I started to walk out without my pocket book, then he told me to turn right when I walked out door for reception area and I turned left. I called my mom today and dialed the wrong number and kept on pushine the volume control to change the channel). Okay getting back to the mag/cal connection. They took an xray right at ortho and doc said golf ball sized calcium deposit in knee. I need physical therapy, ultrasound treatments. He gave me a shot right in the deposit to start the process of breaking it up and it was excruciating. So now I look up calcium deposits and an imbalance of calcium and magnesium. Supposedly if you get enough calcium but not enough mag it will deposit in your joints, muscles. Also cause RLS, anxiety, insomnia, palps etc. So maybe there is something to a deficiency of magnesium causing all these symptoms for some of us ladies. But I also read that you can't just get a regular blood test to determine if you are deficient. It would be some type of 24 hour urine test. I have an appt. with my thyroid doc(had cold nodules biopsied about 2 years ago and have to go back to check). I wish she was my primary care doc because she will take her time and actually listen to all you have to ask and she is very knowledgable in all area. I will ask if she could give the test along with a thyroid panel. My thyroid is always normal on my yearly blood test but she has to check on the nodules anyway.
Here is a website that has alot of explanatory info on symptoms and causes of magnesium deficiency. I just worry that if I take a supplement, I will get diahhreha since I already suffer from pure liquid diahhreah about once a week from panic attacks.
I hope maybe i have helped someone here with this info as well as myself .
