Ladies,

Can any of you shed some light or avenues of research for me to find a doctor to treat for botulism poisoning?

My cousin, 48 and probably suffering from adrenal fatigue and peri developed a case of blephorism. She went to a doctor who told her she had dystonia. Dystonia! A neuroloical movement disorder that has no cure. For a year he injected her with botox as he watched her getting worse and worse. It moved from her eyes into her facial muscles, down into her neck and her upper torso.. each time he told her it was because the dystonia was spreading. It wasn't spreading. She didn't even have dystonia. The botox was paralyzing her. By the time she got away from him and found a doctor who told her she didn't have dystonia. Three doctors since have verified that she doesn't have dystonia. But they offer no treatment other than pain pills and a physciatrist. The last one told her she had fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia? They just pick names out of a book. You don't catch fibromyalgia from botox! When there is a definite cause, treat the cause, don't throw names and pills around.

Anyway.. she has suffered greatly and all at the hand of doctors. I've been trying to find a doctor but I'm not even sure what type to look for. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi there...
How terrible! I can't even begin to imagine how she must feel at this point.

Here is some information....

First...
Get a lawyer...
This is Number ONE.

Here is an article about other people (2004) that were treated.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/11/30/...ain658305.shtml

It mention Charles Schallop, a neurologist who was treating them. You could give him a call.
ON something like this, I would want ther BEST doctor that I could find.

Also, I would call the makers of Botox.

This was interesting...

An antitoxin is available in the event of immediate knowledge of an overdose or misinjection.

In the event of an overdose or injection into the wrong muscle, immediately contact Allergan for additional information at (800) 433-8871 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time, or at (714) 246-5954 for a recorded message at other times.

(The antitoxin will not reverse any botulinum toxin induced muscle weakness effects already apparent by the time of antitoxin administration.)

Who knows, they might be able to inject an antitoxin????

Contact Information
Allergan, Inc
P.O. Box 19534
Irvine, CA 92623 USA
Phone: (714) 246-4500
Fax: (714) 246-4971

I am sure that this will give you a start of what to do....And on this one, please call a lawyer. It is likely that the TX will be very expensive and doctors do have insurance for this sort of thing. If you call the company, they might suggest someone in your area or at least tell you what to do.

Hope this helps a bit...

Oh Shebee, thanks so much! I really appreciate it. As for the lawyer.. yes I agree she needs to sue the pants off this man but she's in no condition to do so right now. She's lucky to make it out of bed. Hopefully once she's on the road to recovery though. I hate the thought of him still in practice!

Again, Thanks a bunch!
