I am just reading the benefits of 'gaba' and how it is supposed to keep you calm. They say it's a natural sedative to give you a sense of well-being.They also say it's kinda' like the natural valium. Anyone trying this? hugs to all

Funny you should mention that, I just got from Whole Foods, and I was looking at some different supplements, and yes I saw that too, GABA.... I just came on the web to start researching that, and some other stuff. There are so many products, that it gets confusing... Then just when you find the right combination of Herbs that you are looking for, they also have additional vitamins.... I was thinking on my ride back, I think when it comes to certain supplements, I may start purchasing those online, at least I will have time to check them out and see what their benefits are...

Now this sounds interesting.Have never heard of the stuff before. So will do a little research.Of course it might well not be available in The Middle East but could get some later on when I travel down to see my Mum in England.
Thanks for the Info

When we do not ovlulate we dot not produce progesterone .. this causes disruption of the neurotransmitter GABA (gamma amunobyturic acid) the "feel good" neurotransmitter in the brain. I have tried L-Theanine when I was having wraking bodya aches and the DR/DP and anxiety associated with the lack of progesterone .. while it did work for a couple hours ,, it made me feel spacy ,, maybe I should not have taken as much. L-Theanine is better at crossing the blood/brain barrier then the GABA suppliment from what I have read. GIve it a try .. many women here have found relief with it.

Thanks Didgens, I saw that to L-Theanine. It is almost like you have to best herbalist to understand how all of these herbs work. I was soooo tempted to buy something yesterday, but then at the same time what to do a little more research, don't want to keep throughing good money after bad...

Also thanks for the info on the GABA, let me know how it goes.... Going back to Whole Foods on Wed or Thurs, almost out of multi's too...

There is a product called PharmaGaba-Pro from a company called Thorne Research that is supposed to be the best at crossing the blood brain barrier. I was given this supplement at the wellness center I was going to, and I must admit it DID help to calm me. It has a similar effect to a magnesium bath (epsom salts) and I would take 300mgs 3x a day until I started to feel better. It really brought my anxiety levels under control and I havent had a full-blown panic attack since taking this. I also have a very hard time with meds and usually get many unwanted side-effects from everything. Thats why I cant take xanax, ativan, or the other tranquillizers that women mention here. But the GABA had absolutely no adverse reactions in me. Just try it at bedtime because the first time I took it I did get sleepy.

Hope this helps....Dee

Hey thanks... Also funny you should mention the Epson Salts. I pulled my back a few days ago, and on Saturday I decided I was going to work it out, wrong just made it worse. So I have been taking some Epson Salts baths and Bath Minerals, and you know now that you say it, it does have a calming affect... Does it make your skin soft too, my feels great when I come out, especially with Bath Minerals...

Surprised you can't take the Ativan, cuz I am really sensative too; but I like Ativan cuz I don't get any weird side effects. But I don't take it that often, but when I do it is usually at night....

Hey didgens, thank so much for the idea, you reminder me of a natural spring feed pool they have in Miami. Not too far from me. I have no idea whats in the water, but your skin comes out feeling like silk, and the atmosphere is just incrediable. Will take my son down there next week (would actually take him today, but he had an all night sleep over at this friends house, and stayed up ALL night... so I think he will be done for the day...)

Here's the link, just check out the pic's absolutely beautiful, and yes this is what I need. They have waterfalls, caves, it is so cool....

Hi Becca,

Yes Magnesium (epsom salt) baths are WONDERFUL. When I was at my absolute worst with panic/anxiety/DR I would pour 1/2 container into my bath and soak for an hour. When I got out I felt like a new woman (or rather alot more like my OLD self!) for at least 3 hours. It was a beautiful feeling that I wish lasted longer.

I just checked out the link to the resort in Miami and I wish I was there right now. You know Florida used to be my second home. I have dreamed of living there since I was 8 years old. My Dad is down in Ft. Lauderdale. Maybe one day when Im out there I'll look you up and we can hit the springs together smile.gif

I hope you are feeling better....much love & hugs, Dee
