Anyone else experience ocassional dizziness, about the last 6 yrs off and on since age 42 have had thus ..just a split second or two of dizziness, have had many check ups and everything is always normal,Dr. says this is not related to meno. Recently I had my Estrogen levels checked and they are low normal, this causes me such anxiety especially when I'm told it's not related to meno! I know I'm probably very close to menopause ,especially since having one ovary removed last yr and uterus removed at 38! Anyone experience these dizzy symptoms??

Yes, I have had this and I know many other women have as well. It is a very common symptom during this phase. It is good you have been checked out and all is ok, but I understand how it makes you feel. When I was younger and I had that, it didn't freak me out, but now, everything out of the norm can set off panic and this is one of those things. It is creepy. Try to let it ride and go with it and not let it get the best of you. Just think of it as another thing added to the list of this meno thing. Feel better.

Yep I get them too and hate them but they pass. I was saying yesterday, I usually reach for my dark chocolate kisses. They dont relieve the dizzies but they sure taste good enough to put them in the back of mind for a little bit.

Thanx so much to Stitchnanny and Enough this eases my mind and I will ride them out a little better! It's just a little scary when I almost feel my eyes moving and can't control it..it always passes very quickly but still makes me panic,I was also thinking that since I have migraines w/ aura this could also be a manifestation of those brought on by peri!

Ditto for me too...

And as it not being related to meno, I don't know, but I think it is surely related to hormones...

Years (wow, many years ago) before I was dx w/endometriosis, I would literally pass-out right before my period would start. Heck, the last straw was one day I was driving home, thank God on a Dirt Road, cuz I past out in while driving.... It was really really weird. Drs would say that I was passing out due to the pain, but this was actually right before the pain would start. Finally I got properly dx w/endo, they did the surgery, and no more passing out.... They could never determine why I would pass out, but I did...

Now I am not saying of course that dizziness is due to endometriosis, but it does prove that there is some relation to hormones and dizziness. Now I get the dizzies right about when I ovulate, and w/onset of my period, and that has been happening for years now. Nothing like I am going to pass out, but that whoaaa feeling....

Good luck, and blessings on you...
DizzyD
Dizziness is my almost constant companion- that's why I chose the name DizzyD!! I have on/off dizziness pretty much daily, sometimes all day. For me it started five years ago with the beginning of peri. Wish it would end... huh.gif

Yeah the dizzies are one of the worst symptoms for me because i get them more frequently with headaches, which increases my health anxiety right through the roof!!! I will be glad when this is over.

I get the dizzys too but thank goodness it only lasts a few seconds..
Floater
I am another that had the dizzies BAD. They started out being occasional, then more frequent, and finally pretty much 24/7. I wish I had KNOWN years before that hormones and dizzies went hand in hand, I would have tracked it to see if there was a pattern.

My dizzies didn't go away until I started estrogen. And my name "Floater" came from the dizzy feeling, the medicine head feeling....like I was floating above my body. At my worst I used to have to hang on to counters and walls cuz I was afraid of falling down *thankfully I never did fall*. But I was dizzy when sitting or laying down...Gawd it was terrible, I sure don't miss it!!!

I get the dizzies really bad as well. Once I started taking Estroven, they lessened quite a bit! I rarely get them anymore...and when I do, they're mild/moderate and don't last too long. I've also noticed when they happen that if I stop and pay attention to my breathing (take some deep breaths) they aren't as intense. Getting freaked out over the dizzies just makes them worse.

Hugs.....

I have a hard time when trying to lie down flat. I use two pillows in bed and that works. However, last week I had a dental appt. and he put that chair back almost flat and I couldn't handle it----the dizzies kicked in and I shot up like a bullet. I asked him if he could do the work if he brought the chair up a bit. He said the water would be dripping down my chin but I didn't care. So he said ok.

Does anyone else have a problem when lying down? It's so annoying.

Read your reply...and yes that is me also whenever Im laying down I do get Dizzy ,just read an article about this and hormones are probably to blame ..they said thats why many women who workout and lay flat while their on the machines, lifting weights ,etc..that often time that causes Dizziness related to hormones! I also get that dizzy feeling @ the Dentist's office too!!

I'm 42 and have been getting the dizzies for a couple of months. My doc said it is a peri symptom, because it is related to the vascular changes going on. I also get dizzy and faint - like a low blood pressure feeling - when I stand up quickly from squatting, or bending over with my head lower than my heart...... I HATE that.

I don't get it all month long....... but I did have it today - day 13 of my cycle.

Glad to know I'm not alone : )

I am 41 and thought I was going crazy - about a year ago I started dealing with the "dizzies" - usually when I would stand up to fast, or bend over etc....only lasts for a few seconds but so annoying!! I was so glad to read all of your posts...made me feel much better to know I am not the only one. I love perimenopause...;-)
really frustrated
Hi there,
My name is Kim and I am new here! It looks already like I have finally found people that will understand and that I will understand what Im going through!
Thank Goodness smile.gif
I have had 90% of the symptoms on the 32 checklist of symptoms....I was sooooooooooooo relieved to read about it ...thinking Im NOT going crazy!
My worst complain is the dizziness....I have had this for approx 3 years and seems to be getting worse! I hate this feeling! I have gone to my emerg, family docs and now a neurologist and they are saying that it is anxiety although they are sending me for an MRI to make sure that nothing else is going on...
It is a such a hard feeling to describe! I feel lightheaded, dizzy to the point of almost passing out, I hate goin anywhere as I always feel that I need to be close to something to grab ahold of....I feel really hazzy and groggy and then start to sweat and then feel clammy....sad.gif Is there something I can take for this?? Im so frustrated that I cry and feel down in the dumps alot...I cant seem to function at work as Im always worried that Im going to have one of these feelings!
Im 42 and I would say that alot of these perimenopausal symptoms have been going on for at least 3 years....
My family doc is saying its vertigo although the meds dont help and the neurologist said to quit ttaking them.... I dont beleive that it is the problem either!
It seems to be worse around my period,.....when I get it! I have been missing periods on and off for about the same time...and when It does decide to show its ugly head they are brutal! Heavy flow with blood clots etc.... just could sleep all the time!
Is there something I can do to STOP all of this???
Thank you so much for listening and am anxious to hear your responces...
Ive decided that Im going to print the 32 symptoms list out and check off every thing that I have experienced and take it into my doc this week .....
I need help! Cant function like this any longer!
Have a great day smile.gif

First wanted to say Welcome to PS Kim, it may take a long while but you can find alot of info here about what you are going through and remedies to maybe help, stick aorund it is great support.

The dizzies are my constant companion now it would seem....the episodes started occasionally and would center around my period and ovulation, but showed up about 4 months before my periods became irregular, now it is daily at varying(sp) degree's. My dizzies are several feelings ranging from being somewhat spacey, feeling lightheaded, something that feels like quick spins that last for maybe 2 sec. if that ( I just feel like suddenly everything tips side ways really fast and then back), I have felt drawn down to one side like a wieght is pulling me towards the ground, I have time where I have to hang on to things, and it being at it's worst the room just spins and nothing helps that as far as laying down, closing my eyes..nothing. Sometimes i think some of these spacey feelings I have are what they are calling brain fog....I just feel drunk. I have a hard time separated the 2 brain fog and dizzies as they seem to be intertwined to a certain degree for me. I have had many tests done (MRI) , went to a ENT, allergist and the only ting that I have are allergies.

Did everyone dizziness come on suddenly or what is a gradual process.......I woke up one morning and just tipped over, couldn't walk, went to the ER and they didn't know why.....I was on my period, however never experienced dizziness until this time except with the flu. After this it was an occasional thing and progressivly became worse and worse. I am agoraphobic because of it.

I am going to try some of the estroven..I have tried BHRT estrogen, but am still having irregular periods so it seemed to help some things and made others worse...plan on trying it again when things settle some. good luck with everyones search for answers to this annoying symptom. HUGS Mikki

hi there, i also get these dizzies but its really hard to explain because its sort of the in between of dizzy, lightheaded a feeling of passing out at the same time and this is when im just watching telly, this really makes me feel sick and freaks me out as though im going have a heart attack or stroke and why is it that my blood pressure go ups when im due my period xx

I have known this feeling all too well for the past 4 days now. I might (can't be sure anymore) be a day or two away from my period. I never get a spinning sensation or anything like that. Mostly it's just lightheaded or foggy or just feeling like I might fall down. My eyes seem to bother me when I move them to fast or something. Sometimes they even feel like they have been watering but they aren't. I am very new to all of these peri symptoms and let me say that they are scaring the heck out of me already. It's like one huge panic attack that just won't go away! I did feel a little better today but then this afternoon....it all came back again. I can help but wonder if this is going to make me crazy! I have an appt. with a therapist next week but I'm afraid to go because since being lightheaded, I haven't wanted to leave the house for fear that something terrible will happen to me. I really enjoy reading the posts here because at least if feel as though I am not alone.
