Hi ladies,

I posted this a few days ago but didn't receive any responses so I'm trying again...... I'm hoping to talk with my doctor about these results comes Monday but I'd like your ideas so I might know what questions to ask her. Especially concerning the estradiol should she ask me to reduce it. But I'm also really interested in the thyroid as I've thought I might have low thyroid for quite some time.

My TSH
Resutls Range
TSH ---- 1.140uIu/mL----- 0.0450-4.500
T3Free --- 1.71 pg/mL----- 2.3-4.2
T4Free --- 0.91 ng/dl ----- 0.61-1.76

Also I want to include my sex hormones because the nurse said she had tried to leave me a message to cut my estradiol in half and I feel much better now that I have added more.

Testosterone----- 69 ng/dl..... 14-76
Testoste/Free---- 0.3 ..... 0.0-2.2
Estradiol, sensitive----- 215..... PeriOvulatory/- 107-281 --- Postmenopausal treated /42-289
Progesterone ----- 0.2 ..... Postmenopausal/ 0.0-0.7

Thanks for any light you can shed on these.

Carol - here are my numbers for comparison:

T4 free, direct 1.11 Ref. interval 0.61 - 1.76
TSH 0.681 Ref. interval 0.450-4.500
Triiodothyronine, free, serum 2.3 Ref. interval 2.3 - 4.2
Estradiol 16 Ref. interval 19 - 528
Free testosterone direct <0.2 Ref. interval 0.0 - 2.2
Progesterone 0.6 Ref. interval postmen 0.0 - 0.7

I work for an alternative/homeopathic doc and our plan of action is iodine to supplement the thyroid and eventually going off the synthetic Levoxyl (these are my number while on thyroid med) and possibly going to a dessicated thyroid.

I hope your doctor is more in tune w/ your symptoms rather than just the numbers. Some numbers may be just fine, but the patient is still presenting with all the symptoms. Also have you had adrenals/cortisol tested? I was found to have AF so once the thyroid issues start to get sorted then we will work on the AF.

Good luck!

Thanks Marrin, This helps. It looks like my T3 & T4 are lower than yours & TSH higher but not by a great amount considering you are being treated. I have kelp tablets that I try to take to help it but I've never noticed a difference so I stopped taking them. Are you taking any HRT? Because your numbers don't appear that you do. But I can see why she might want me to reduce my E when comparing my #s to yours. Wowzie...

The thing is, I have tried for 2 years to take HRT and feel good. Finally finally I am starting to feel good. I have more energy, I have no appetite, my moods are great, my confidence is higher yet she wants me to reduce it? To go back to where I was? I keep thinking if I could get my thyroid in order I would at optimal levels. Yet I know things aren't as good as I make it sound. I haven't slept well for the past week maybe 8-10 hours total for the week, I'm only eating between 800-1200 cal a day (not that the scales have noticed) and I'm getting intense head aches, my hair is falling out, not in clumps but as I brush it in the morning more is left in the sink ... all in all those are much better than the other issues I was dealing with so I'm willing to make the trade if need be.

Maybe if I could get my thyroid levels up I'll feel well enough not to need the estrogen or at least maybe not so much of it.

Thanks for your reply and yes, my doctor is a holistic/medical and I really like her. She's easy to talk with and ready to try new things.

No Carol I do not take any hormone replacement. My doc explained the domino effect that hormones have on each other so we are working w/ thyroid first to see what that affects, and then we'll start with the motherboard, the DHEA.

As it stands right now, I feel better than I did a month ago when I first started the testing. I know there's quite a ways to go yet as far as the adrenals go - could take 6+ months. But just this little bit of energy and clarity in thinking is much encouraging smile.gif Also I lost 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks.

Maybe look into treating the thyroid with armour? I can't see that it has caused anything bad in the month and a half I have been on it. Just have not had my levels checked since. If I can get my P back down a bit will have another blood work up. They raised my progesterone (oil caps) up to 225 from 150 and wowza I knew within days I was off balance. I had and still have acne, I was having the internal shakes like crazy and was going back to not sleeping well. She had me come off of it and I am waiting for a 175mg to come in. I started the T a couple of weeks ago and I do believe the sex drive and over all general well being is improving already.

Thanks Davinci, I'm hoping she will put me on Cytomel or Armour either one. I remember Corky saying that estrogen levels affected the thyroid in an averse way so I'm afraid she may only want me to reduce my E. I wouldn't be happy with that. I really like her though. She listens and will generally let me try things for a couple of months and then retest. She's the one in Midway I told you about. I'll let you know. I took the survey and really want to thank you! It was great.

I am glad you like the midwife. I do hope she tries you on Armour too. Like I say I don't have my numbers since being on a low dose of it but will post when I do.
