Hi ladies,

It's hard for me to believe, I had waited a long time for my Drs appointment only to find out that I had wrote the day down wrong... and i missed it! I had to take off early from a new job too... hate that. I had gone the week before to have lab results so they did give me a copy of that and they are going to ask the doctor if she will do a "Phone" visit instead of an office visit for me. But till then.. I won't have a diagnosis so I'm hoping you can help me.

My TSH
Resutls Range
TSH 1.140 0.0450-4.500
T3Free 1.71 2.3-4.2
T4Free 0.91 0.61-1.76

Also I want to include my sex hormones because the nurse said she had tried to leave me a message to cut my estradiol in half and I feel much better now that I have added more.

Test 69 ng/dl 14-76
Free 0.3 0.0-2.2
Estradiol, sensitive 215 PeriOvulatory 107-281 Postmenopausal treated 42-289
Progesteron 0.2 Postmenopausal - 0.0-0.7

Thanks for any light you can shed on these.

Carol, I'm not well versed in all the hormone numbers, but because I have thyroid issues I will comment on those. It looks like your T3 is too low. Some Drs. will consider supplementing with compounded T3 some will not. Mine perscribed T3 even though mine was at the low end of the normal range because my TSH was over 2.0. Other Dr. will say that your TSH is fine and you do not need to do anything.

I am still trying to get the thyroid sorted out. I have tried Armour and felt better but ended up with an episode of heart racing and high bp--this could have been a panic attack, but one Dr. wanted me to back off the Armour another Dr. thought I should increase it and that it would resolve the panic. I have went back to the T3 but plan to see an endo soon.

Let me know what your Dr. says.

Thanks for your input, Ms. Anxiety.

My doctor put me on iodine supplements and I took those for 3 weeks. I felt some better but in other ways worse so I read the label and found they were made in a wheat facility and I'm allergic to wheat so I stopped. I see her again Monday and I'm going to try to convince her to give me cytomel. I've heard good things about it and it only affects your T3, not T4 or TSH. But I barely have energy to get through the days anymore.

I've heard on these boards that supplementing with estrogen will harm your thyroid and I looked at my past results over a 3 year period and my T3 has steadily declined so I'm wondering about that as well. I hope not, I'd hate to have to give up my hormones right now. I think if I could get everything working for a full 12 months I might be ready to try and give them up, but I'd love to feel GREAT for at least a year. smile.gif

I'll have to ask her about the compound T3. I didn't know there was such a thing. Thanks for mentioning it. Did it not help you to feel as good as the Armour?

Carol:

I apologize, I lost track of this thread, I didn't mean to ignore you. Anyway, I'll update you. I have been taking the compounded T3 (extended release) for a couple months, but last time they tested my free T3 it was 2.49 so they doubled my dose to 10mcg 2 times ea. day, morning and evening. I have been told that the ideal range for T4 is 1.3-1.7 and T3 should be 3.4-4.2.

I have noticed some improvement in my anxiety, dizziness and heart racing on the increased dose, but I feel that it still needs some tweeking. I'll have to wait a couple mos. before they retest, but I suspect that my T4 may need some help too.

Regarding the Armour, it did make me feel better for a couple of weeks. I don't know for certain if it played a part in my big heart racing episode, but it may have because the T3 in Armour is not extended release. Also, I have heard that they released a new formulation in May (when I started taking this) and some people were reporting adverse effects. So who knows.
