I just had this for the last two weeks. I went to the chiropractor and the machine even picked up on it. I felt much better after being adjusted. Weird, huh?

I had this same thing a while back and it's called coccyxdynia. Sorry for spelling. Anyway, I posted on here and what happened was, it just went away on it's own. I can't pinpoint what started it. Maybe the way I was sitting at the pc or just a spinal/posture. Could've been the chair I was using.
Hope yours clears up soon.

For me, I think it was sitting wrong. I was visiting my mom in the hospital for two weeks and two long days in the er, Those chairs are awful. I think that's what did me in. Yes, I had a little burning too. I felt it a little yesterday after being on my feet a few hours. If I lay down flat on the floor it helps. Try a heating pad too, it may help.

Oh ladies you really are the best, thankyou a million times.
Just such relief hearing others with such a bizzare (thing?)
Scared val, I,ve also found with this and other pains(had horrendous toothache last month) that no pain killers seem to touch it! Thought dentist was going to find an abcess pain so awful BUT nothing there??
Have also got prescrip[tion for period pains now as over counter stuff doesn,t do much.
Glad everyones tailbones bit better

I am familiar with the tailbone issue-not fun

I use ice on mine for relief and walking helps(sometimes) to get it back in place (apparently firming up those glutes aids in keeping things in line). Although sometimes making a visit to your friendly neighborhood chiropractor is necessary!
Hmm if its not enough for the hormones to go awry, the bones have to join in??? Sheesh

I have had this off and on, too, for years. When I have it, I sit sideways to try to relieve the pressure or sit on one leg. Sometimes when I am at computer, I will sit on a telephone book with tailbone region over the edge. They have special pillows for this, too. I tried one of those inflatable rings but that didn't work so good. I will use pain creams, etc. I wonder if it's due to poor posture when sitting.
I remember falling down on my rear end many years ago and wonder if that did something to my tailbone. It's a pain in the you know when you have it.

Yep me too. I was actually relieved to run across your post...I thought I was the only one. It started a couple months ago. Seems to come and go. It seems to be most pronounced before my cycle. In fact last month we were away so I couldn't see my chiro. so I went for a massage. The massage therapist said that everything on my right side was very tight and I had a muscle knot in my right lower back. Two days later it was gone.
I've noticed that the pain sometimes travels around..buttocks etc. Do you think this is just another symptom of anxiety, tight muscles here, there and everywhere?

i had this, too, which was more pronounced during the last year i cycled and the first year i went without a period. i am of the belief that [FOR ME] it was all hormonally related. it has gotten much better; i am now 4½ yrs w/o a period and i don't feel i am nearly the "pain in the butt" i used to be.
hehehe

Glad this post helped Ms Anx.
Defo for travelling pain, can move change from hurting to sore to burning pain within minutes.I sort of think if it can affect finger joints etc it can affect tailbone, mines gone off a little, but occassionally starts twinging again....
Hmmmm whatever next

ABSOLUTELY!! I know this is an older post but I fell in my twenties from a bar stool onto the point edge of a metal toolbox...OUCH!! It didn't bother all that much over the years. But, the last couple of years...OMG!! I found a good chiropractor who uses this adjustment machine Pro- something or other. I was pain free for 3 months. Looks like I need another trip back to the chiropractor. My cocyx (sp?) is a little to the right. I also get sciatica and sharp pains down my leg. I just go with the flow and deal as best I can. I hope you are feeling better. Mich

I do get that pain before my periods. Chiropractic adjustments help me so much - I get adjusted monthly around mid-cycle and it helps with the tailbone pain and also with menstrual cramps.

Ooooh sorry to hear your tailbone is up to tricks! Me too done with this crap.
As for relief I haven,t found anything other than deep heat lotions sort of relax the muscles a bit.
And as for that sensitive to touch feeling..... I get that anywhere and everywhere.

Hi Valerie,
Aaah that felt better, can,t beat a good scream lol
Yes took a good while was bad for few weeks then gradually eased up,then would think it had cleared off,for it to reappear!!!
Had this happen twice.
All these ailments seem to have some WARPED sense of humour, just when you think there is a pattern..... There then is NO pattern
and some other weired symptom takes it,s place and the old one occassionaly twinges again just to remind you,it "could" come back
at anytime.
Feel another scream coming on AAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
