Has anyone found Omega 3s useful for their symptoms? I am 45, starting to have troubling perisymptoms (anxiety/panic, mood swings, insomnia, internal shaking, a hot flash or two, vaginal burning). I am enlisting western medicine, starting low dose BCPS, an antidepressant, one-a-day vitamin, xanax as needed, but I am tempted to add Omega 3s as they are supposedly good for mood and inflammation. I would love to hear others experiences. I hate to turn my body into a chemistry experiment but also want to everything I can to feel as good as possible....Thanks!!!

Now I am not saying the Omega 3's are the end all of end all answers. But I love them. I still have anxiety, but I do believe it would be worse w/o. I take a 1,000mg 3 times a day. Honestly Omega 3's are good for so many things, I honestly swear by them. I use to only take like 800 mg a day, then I did some more research, and also went to an acupuncturist that told me to increase to 4grams (4,000mg) per day. But I just stayed at the 3grams (3,000mg). It also does good for your cholestrol levels too, and suppose to be good for the brain, and hey will take all the help I can get...

Make sure it's a good quality, but I would surely suggest you give them a try...

I take them and they do make me feel better emotionally and help some with the mental stuff too but they give me diarrhea so I have to cycle them.

Hi Sissy,
I Love the fish oil pills. They keep u regular and it seems to lessen the brain fog. My problem is I forget to take them regularly, but when I do I can tell a big difference.

Wow! Thanks for all the advice. Sounds from what I am hearing like they are well worth a try. Any good guidelines for finding high quality supplements?

Yes, Omega 3 helps me feel better AND it helped me lower my cholesterol 22 points. I highly recommend it.

I usually don't remember to take three a day. Most of the time I take two a day. smile.gif

I was told by an acupuncturist to take 3 to 4 grams (1,000mg = 1 gram).

Currently, my Omega 3's is 1,000mg per tab, I am taking 3 x's per day.....

I also take a good multi, probiotic, Vit D'3 (in addition to the multi) 400mg, digestive enzymes, evening primrose, magnesium, and I think that covers it.... cool.gif oh Vit C....

As for a good brand, I get all my vitamins from Whole Foods. I tried GNC, but wasn't much impressed. I read once, don't know if true, but they said if a company is publicly trade (ie GNC), to stay away bcz their main focus is $$$$$. I like Whole Foods selections, perhaps some other ladies know some specific brands...

Hi sissyl,

Omega 3s seem to support my overall mood. It seems to give me a lift. I like Coromega - easy to take and convenient to keep in my purse.

I tried to take fish oil for a while, but I burped it up constantly and it made everything I ate taste like fish oil. Nasty. How do you avoid that?

My dad takes fish oil for his Rheumatoid Arthritis. He swears it helped his pain.

Did you try different brands?

Also I always take after a meal...

I also take probiotics & Digestive Enzymes, which I swear by, has done a world of wonders w/acid reflux...

Also I get flax seed oil, it has like 8 grams per teasonpoon I believe, I put it in stuff (like pancakes or where ever you would use oil, just add a little in addition to the Olive Oil - no don't use Olive Oil in pancakes...lol) , kid don't even taste neither does the hubby... biggrin.gif
