Must have been a slow news night.

They dragged out that study that women who get less than 8 hours sleep every night may be on the verge of heart disease.

My, what a comforting thought as I toss and turn each night trying to capture the sleep I USED to get before peri menopause entered the picture.

Now I have yet another worry to add to my worry thread.

Why do I even bother watching TV anymore??? huh.gif

Geez, I kind of thought this thread would be buzzing on here--what with all our sleep issue at this stage of our lives.

That's why I brought up the topic. I, too, have difficulty sleeping and "studies" like this always upset me because the news media uses these things to fill in space on a slow news day and very often these studies are simply shooting from the hip and may not even be credible.

I was hoping some of our PS experts out there might have some feedback or ideas. So, I'll take the liberty of bumping this thread to the top again in hopes someone out there can say something comforting to the sleepless in our midst. rolleyes.gif

I also find sleep difficult. When I eventually get to sleep, I sense that I am not resting. I feel uneasy when I am sleping, dont know if that makes sense to you or not.

I've never heard about a link between heart disease and insomnia - that's just great unsure.gif I know that sleep is very important for our immune system, but that's all I really know. mellow.gif

Yes, they have been harping on that now for a while. My question is, what about our mothers who are in their 70's and 80's. Don't you think they had issues with sleep at one point in their lives, like when they were going through menopause? And they are still going strong. The news do tend to scare people. I have gotten to the point now where I just say screw it, we are all going to die anyway, somethign has to kill us!!. And then I just turn the news cause am sick of looking at it. They say the same thing about alcohol..."oh one drink a day is good for you"...then they came back a few years later and said that women in their 40's/50's who have even one drink a day increases risk of I think it was breast cancer, or was it stroke or heart disease. They just really make me sick!!!! No wonder people are walking around so anxious, neurotic and depressed!

I agree. All these claims will send us to an early grave unsure.gif - Stress is the biggest killer.

I will add that my heart seems to be fine even though I have had on and off insomnia,I had an ekg a while back that was normal.
