So I was at the gyno and he said all this joint pain is all related to hormones. I told him every joint ached and some are swollen. I said I had blood work done to see if there was a problem and he said I bet it was all clear and that hormones mess us up. Good and bad news I guess. At least now I know where the pain comes from. Aside from the real osteo in the knees and jaw. I can stop googling RA and just deal with it. Just thought I would share this info for all of you wondering why you are suddenly in so much pain.

I'm shock your doctor related it to peri!

I hurt all over too, my doctor said I had fibromyalgia but I never ache until my hormones went wacky!

Did he say what may bring you some relief?

How silly I forgot to ask. I go back in Sept. after a hormone test, so I will ask then.

I told my doctor that. So he tested my hormone levels, I'm waiting on the result.

He called it the "change of life test". Ouch!

Well, well, well. The surprises just keep a-coming, don't they?!

For the past year, I've been taking yoga classes (mainly to calm my nervous butt down from all this peri stuff!)

And I've just not been able to figure out why this weekly class always makes me sore. My joints get sore and my muscles get sore. Used to be after you worked those joints and muscles a few weeks, all of the soreness would go away. But each time I do it, it's as if I haven't exercised in 10 years!

Same with running. I take a 10 minute jog once or twice a week: same deal there, too.

Out of curiosity, I thought I'd see if there was a "sore joint" topic on PS. And sure enough! Here it is! I never noticed it before because I spend all of my time on the depression/anxiety/am I going crazy boards!

Geez! Before it's all over, I'll be familiar with every blessed topic out here!

Heaven help us.

Same with me, but just seems like normal muscle soreness -- I do not have any health problems to cause this other than Peri. No swollen joints at least, but notice my muscles & joints are not tolerating exercise as well -- at least the ones that are the strongest seem to have become more sensitive or something. However, I notice they seem very strong once they recover...hope this is a good sign.

BTW, how much ibuporfen should one take for this stuff?? Looked up arthritis dosages on the Net, should I go by that???

Hi:
I did have shoulder surgery for an impinchment, so I guess I do have reasons to have muscle pain and spasms, I continuously exercise, but my husband said I should not, and even wants me to stop going to physical therapy, because I am always so sore. I also go to acccupunture nad she gives me a massage as well, that helps, but I only go once a week. At this point I think it is soreness rather than pain. You don't know what to do for the best exercise to get range of motion back, or not exercise and have less soreness. No other joints hurt. My knees and hips etc are very strong.
When it really is sore, I take 2 advil, but try not to because of the liver.
If anyone else has had that surgery could they tell me how long it takes for the shoulder to stop feeling sore like that?

Consider adding some arnica gel to your kit bag. When a friend recommended it for sore muscles, my first thought was, yeah right. But.........months later I find I am very impressed with its ability to help calm inflammation and even swelling. I often come in from the garden with a sore back and lay on an ice pack. Now, if I apply arnica gel before and after, there's no soreness at all. Same with bruises or tweaked muscles from the gym. My knuckles are often throbby and it helps with that too.
Not too expensive and worth a shot.

Gotta love doctors.

I went to see mine for a renewal of my anti inflammatory prescription and said that I'd read about "menopausal arthritis" in which decreasing hormone levels cause joint aches etc. I also said to him I still have a problem (which I already told him about) with the right side of my right foot which has been like this for about a year, feels as if the toes are cramped, he checked to see if anything was out of place (it wasn't) and I could move my toes ok (I can) then said "Why don't you look up and see if you can find anything about menopausal foot." LOLOL

My guitarist's arthritis has come on strong again but not really surprising considering that over the weekend I did two four-hour stints playing in the open air, the second one being on a cool damp day... I am amazed and delighted that I could even do that at all, I thought I was condemned to a life without guitar playing - so I think I've got off pretty lightly with just some hand and arm stiffness today which has already improved since last night.
