Hi ladies,

just wondering because I need some hope right now...is there anyone out there that when there periods stopped they felt somewhat normal again? Please, please tell me there is. I sware my period and ovulation are my problems. I finally got the the experience of missing one after them coming every other week for 3 years and I felt good for the most part...it came back and whoala I feel lousy again almost everyday. My fsh was 66 back when I missed this period so I am hoping I am rounding this up unless it can go back to normal levels after being that high...one of the only things that keeps me going through this is the hope that when they stop I will feel better. I know alot don't, but there must be some who's period was the culprit and when it stopped so did most of the miserable feelings....isn't it supposed to be the fluctuation of hormones that caused the problem? HUGS MIkki

Hi Sun,
I was hemorhaging or for months. The last 3 months I have not had a normal period. One day of spotting and that is it. I feel so much better. I can laugh again. Before I was deeply depressed, panic attacks, hot flashes, etc. Now I feel like myself again. Before no one could stand to be around me, I was really mean. I believe that u too will feel better soon. Be encouraged. biggrin.gif

I haven't had a period in over a year, and I feel pretty good. I found the fluctuating hormones and the hassle of not knowing when you would have a period were very hard on me. I rarely have the anxiety or racing heart anymore. I find not having periods to be wonderfully liberating. I don't have to deal with the mess anymore, and because I'm not bleeding anymore, I have a lot more energy. I guess things have evened out. I exercise more, have managed to lose a few pounds, and feel healthier than when I was in my 40s. I'm 56 and started this peri mess a few years ago.

Hang in there. It will get better!

You will feel better. I'll be two years post in a couple of months and I can't tell you how much better I feel once the periods and hormonal fluctuations stopped. I haven't had headaches, occular migraines and rarely have flashes or the crankies any more. tongue.gif

thankyou for the hope....I think I will too, just by the last couple years and watching how my body reacts lately and especially missing a period and feeling the best I have in awhile until it came.....I am glad you all feel better too...when I think of never being right again.....well I just can't take that thought. Hi there, I haven't had a period since the end of April, and feel like a big water balloon! I have pain every day and night and it is a lot worse than before, when I had my period. It feels like my ovaries are throbbing, along with fibroid pain that has gotten a lot more heavy and intense. I have even gained an extra 9 pounds of probably fluid, and have a terrible time just rolling over in bed. It feels as if my body is on the verge of bursting!! Has anyone experienced this when you started missing periods?? Is this normal? Many thanks for any of your comments! Celica2

Hi Celica,
I'm probably way off base here but just thinking maybe you might get an ultrasound just to see what's going on in there. You say you have fibroid pain so maybe the fibroid has grown a lot or perhaps now has company? When was the last time you had an ultrasound, pelvic exam, pap, etc.? If all the water weight feels like it's in your abdomen I would get that checked out. Better to be a little on the hypervigilant side than just ignore something like this and figure it's a PIA but "normal". Let us know what you find out.
hugs,
Jan

I have had one period (last month) since early March I have to say it has been great. I"ve felt better physically than I've felt in years. Even the period I had in June was just bleeding, no pain, no bloating, etc. and I think might have been brought on by extreme stress in my personal life. It's all weird, and we're all individuals and each of us will traverse this time differently. Some of us will feel like "death" and some of us will just feel like donkey dung. A few lucky souls will get through this with few symptoms and little disruption but I think they are in the minority.

Fried, it can happen, God , good for you.
Me too.

I had not had a full one since last fall, then one spotting, and one started yesterday!
I DO NOT feel like death.

I guess my issue with having no period at the moment, or rather waiting for the next one to happen, is that my body feels that PMS- type of pain, only worse. And to those who "don't feel like death", well lucky you!!
manyboys
When my periods started peetering out, then finally stopped I would have "phantom" period symptoms like cramps each month when I should have been getting a period.
I even used protection each day and at night because I really thought it was coming. Never did.
Each month these phantom symptoms became less and less until I felt nothing.
It's all a distant memory now.....:-)
Celica2

Well, that sounds like me too at the moment! Thanks manyboys for that experience of yours, and the hope that comes along with it. I have had more intense cramps and fluid retention for some reason, every day and night since April. So maybe my period might just leave for good? Looking forward to that!! Celica2

Here are some vitamins to take for that fluid retention:
Calcium 1,000-1,500 milligrams

Magnesium 400 milligrams

Potassium 3,500 milligrams

Vitamin B6 200 milligrams, taken as 4 divided doses for 5 days before the start of menstruation

Plus a B-complex supplement

Drink lots of water and AVOID ALL SALT!!!

Elevate your feet whenever possible...

Try 5-htp for a sleep aid I have used it sas needed for several years now..

I havent had a period in a year and I feel worse now that I dont., had my Last period last July. Hot flashes everday and night now since last November.

Before that the hot flashes would come for a few weeks and then be gone or very mild for a few weeks. Now its just a daily/nightly thing. sad.gif I HATE it! mad.gif

Its not a one size fits all thats for sure but I have hope that it will get better.

ain't that the truth. I haven't had a period in over 8 months, & once again the flashes are day & night round the clock. Constant wardrobe changes

Just wondering for those who are having a hard time after your periods stopped, did you have a rough peri. and one just went into the other or was peri bothersome somewhat until the hormones bottomed out and then you felt the real brunt of all this? It is so strange that some are more sensitive to the fluctuations rather than the lack of and some don't feel much until the lack of and then feel horrible while those who were sensitive to the fluctuations feel better after they are through bouncing around. I don't know what it is for me....sometimes I just think it is the bleeding and maybe sudden drops or rises, but the bleeding is exhausting for me....I have become anemic and just being that causes problems, but when you feel like you have a mattress between you legs from mid back to belly button (ok maybe I am exagerating just a bit, but sure feel s like it) and that still isn't enough you just become worn down. Anyway thanks for the thoughts, Mikki

I had a really bad time during peri...twilight zone stuff. I'm over 2 years post and things are bette than they were in peri but still deal with symptoms like anxiety/shaking, hot flashes and mood swings.

TODAY IS MY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF STOPPING MY PERIOD YEAAA!!!!!!!!! I'm 52 and my last period was Oct 2, 2008

I feel MUCH MUCH better, the past five years have been emotional hell. I have been on paxil and xanax for 19 years, and will
be for life, as we have panic disorder in our family, so i've dealt with those forever, but the paxil pretty much stops the panic attacks.

Anyway, This is such a wonderful day of joy for me..............I feel as if i've come out of the dark tunnel of menopause...............
a very scary icky tunnel, in which I wanted to leave my hubby of 30 years on a monthly basis, I was sooooo depressed......off and on, mostly on.....

I still have trouble sleeping, I always have, I take 1milligram to 1.50 milligrams of xanax at night to help me relax to sleep, cos i'm so hyper anyway....

But I had my appendix removed last week, and that could have been contributing to my feeling like absolute **** too........................my surgeon
says it had some gang green on it.........oey.....................................so maybe that's why i'm feeling better, but i'm chalking it up to being over
meno!!!!
