Has anyone tried pemphase? I am curently on bio progestorone but dont think it is doing a thing. I hate the idea of heart attack or stroke, but my quality of life is going down fast. I am also taking a low dose of Xanax daily. Wish I could get off that. Just wondering what HRT every one is taking.
Thanks for the imput

Hi Renae - I actually took Premphase last fall for 1 month. I got scared and quit - really dumb, I regret it now. I wanted to tough it out on my own, but by about Christmas, I decided that I couldn't. So, I'm back to looking for the perfect HRT for me. I've tried a couple BHRT transdermals (Vivelle Dot and sublingual compounded ones) that haven't brought my estrogen level above 30 - which is pretty darn low. We came to the conclusion that my body doesn't absorb very well through the skin. So, now, I've started back on Premarin, which I REALLY HOPE works. I think the Premphase was starting to work for me at the very end of the 4th week, just before I quit using it. The Premphase is a premarin/provera combination set up to have you cycle. The provera is the synthetic progesterone that was the questionable one in the WHI trial that showed a slight increase in breast cancer. If you are considering Premarin, ask your Dr. if you can take prometrium and premarin instead of the Premphase. Prometrium is the bio form of prometrium. That's what I'm doing. Hope you find what helps you, it's an awful place in life to be. Let us know what you decide......... Have you had any blood work done? I have certainly walked in your shoes and know how confusing it can all be, especially when you feel like garbage!

Oh I have had plenty of blood work done. What would you like to know? Also why did you stop the premphase?

Hi Renae - What was your estradiol level? Were any other levels amiss? I stopped taking the Premphase because basically, I chickened out - the whole WHI breast cancer scare thing. I wasn't having any bad reaction to it. In fact, I think it was actually starting to work near the end of the 4th week, just when I stopped taking it - really stupid! Now I am again searching for something that works. My estradiol level just won't come up - it's staying between 20 and 30, when I've taken Activella (which is 1 mg estradiol), then vivelle dot (.1 mg), and then compounded sublingual estradiol (3.75 gms/day) and now once again, I'm back to Premarin(.0625)/Prometrium (100 mg /day). I've given each a 6-10 week trial, except the Premarin/Prometrium which I've only been on for 3 weeks, but I'm not feeling any better - in fact, I feel lousy, just like you. I'm open to any suggestions, but I hope that you hit something that works for you the first try.

Dear 'scooterfroogie'
Am on HRT Trisequens.I was on Angeliqu before but the E level was too low to prevent breakout bleeding so the change was made.It is going very well..
I definitely understand your reservations but for me I feel good about my choice.I do not smoke or drink, practise regular Yoga and all in all feel fairly good,
Every Med. we take has potential side effects but sometimes we have to accept that the positives outweigh the negatives as far as our quality of life and health goes.
Also do keep in mind that there are many women who have never touched HRT and suffered strokes, cancer etc.

I do realise that each lady will eventually chose something that will help her through the Menopausal transition.
Do all the research you can.See what other ladies have to say.Discuss all options with your Gyno. and then make an informed choice.

Wishing You Lots of Luck
Elizabeth

That is so true....even antibiotics, such as cipro, can have very adverse side effects but sometimes people have to take it anyway in order to get better.Alot of people are scared of HRT because of the WHI study.....but it contained alot of flaws...i know lots of women who took HRT for years and years and are fine.
