hi again..........i was wondering if maybe i should start using some progesterone creme? ... the natural type from yams.......i know i can buy it at the health food store. ... do you guys think that would help?

I don't know what brand to buy, what brand is the safest? Now, i've heard some not to nice "stories" about this, and yet, i've also heard some good ones ........ so, i don't know what to do really ...... does using progesterone cream have any specific BAD side effects, either short term or long ? I don't want to make matters WORSE ..... (see the post below this one, about bad ovarian cramps during my period) .......thanks all!!!!!

You never know until you bye it, if you want to try, get the one endorsed by DR. Lee, it should be Micronized USP progesterone, to be effective.
The wild yam from health food store is just a good moisturizer.
No two women experience is alike, your can be compltely opposite than mine or anyone esle.
I think BHRT is very individual, so the proof is in the pudding, I am sure you will be fine if you try short term and find it made you feel worse.

I could never tolerate the stuff until I replaced estrogen also, but maybe that is because I have only one ovary and that has fizzled out. I have used ProGest, which is recommended by Christiane Northrup and others but I like Natural Women, which is USP micronized progesterone that I found at GNC. Also, I use it only at night because occasionally it will make me sleepy and I keep my dose low because it can make me moody.

Hi!!!

I didn't see what you were thinking it would be for, but, yes, progesterone cream was an absolute life saver for me. The Dr. took me off the pill two years ago after I had been on it for 23 years. I get migraines and there is a stroke/pill connection with them. I REALLY didn't want to go off, but I did, and the incredible cramps and debilitating migraines started. Within two days of discovering prog. cream I WAS FINE!!!! I just started with a Dr. who actually knows about this stuff and he took me off the Kokoro I bought from Whole Foods (lovely texture--some are very waxy and gross) to make sure I was getting a higher dose and that it's consistent with dosage. I have also read that Progest is good, though, and Whole Foods carries it. It's always nice to find a Dr. who knows about bHRT, but if your symptoms are consistent with a prog. deficiency, I would give it a whirl! Saved my life!

Song,
I am totally in agreement with you. The main thing is to get tested and if you are deficient in progesterone, start slow and bring it up. It has also helped me so much and I have talked to many women who say the same after being on it for a long period. At some point I may need to add natural estrogen. I will keep testing off and on because things change, this would be with any hormone you might take. It's amazing to me that women are put on JUST estrogen so quickly.
