Hi everyone. I have always had hypothyroidism (along with a number of thyroid nodules) and was finally sent to an endocrinologist last year who put me on Thyrolar, which contains the T3 as well as the T4. I was formerly on Synthroid.

I got my test results today and now my T3 is too high at 188. The medical assistant said the normal range was 87-167 (but I read on the 'net that normal went up to 180, so I hope my 188 isn't too bad). My TSH was 0.85, which is also okay, but getting too close to hyper for me.

I have always had fatigue problems, but it has been really awful for about 2 months. I'm wondering now if going into hyperthyroid happened at about that same time (2 months ago) to make me worse? I know both hypo and hypo can cause fatigue.

I am just so frustrated. I'm changing endocrinologists soon, since the one I go to does not follow up and makes you wait for two hours after your scheduled appointment, even when no other patient is there! These recent tests were done by my GP. Thank God for him.

My GP wants the new endo to check adrenal functions for the fatigue. Now I guess the new guy will have to also figure out how to stablize my thyroid.

Anyone have a lot of difficulty getting their thyroid to behave?

Thanks.

P.S. Excuse spelling--can't find the spell check.

Still waiting for my own thyroid to behave! tongue.gif Recently dxed with AF, Metabolic Syndrome, and Insulin Resistance. Right now the doc has me checking my basal body temp 2x day, and then I will start with small does of iodine to supplement the synthetic thyroid I take now.

Good for your doc for suggesting test for AF!

Yep, haven't quite figured mine out either. Tried Armour recently and after a few weeks I had a few heart racing episodes so now we are trying T3 alone. I also take thytrophine by Standard Process.

Thank you both for responding.

Marrin, you have quite a few things going on. I probably do also, but have finally just started to try to sort it all out. It sounds like you have a good start on what to do.

Ms Anxiety (great name), I was thinking about asking about Armour. Maybe the dose was too high for you, or it just did not agree with your body. I'm beginning to be afraid of trying anything, anymore.

It's all such a trial and error (especially a "trial"!). Maddening.

Thanks again.
