After 4-1/2 years of cycles at regular like clockwork 25-day intervals (since I got off the Pill), I'm 4 days late! I'm so excited! I know I'm seriously jumping the gun and I'll probably start tomorrow, but I couldn't help but share. ANY late after I was so regular is cause for hope for me. Here's a toast *clink* to the light at the end of the tunnel.
And for those of you who might be thinking "she's probably pregnant"....unless I'm giving birth to a five-year-old, I'm pretty safe in that department...lol

My periods actually got shorter in frequency but longer in duration. That happened for 2 years. Then I finally missed a period. Then a few months later I missed another one. That went on for a year. Finally last November (I was then 54 yo.) I had my last period (so far) It is great not to be ruled by the calendar. I am hoping I am not one of these that get a period after 10 months or so. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Like I said...I know I'm jumping the gun. And I'm not expecting that last month was the last period forever. IF ONLY!!!! Just that now that the irregular periods seem to be starting (had a 19 day cycle rather than the usual 25 three months ago), my gyno won't look at me like I'm crazy when I suggest that I'm peri. (When I told her I had my first hot flash a couple of years ago, all she did was say "Congratulations." No more questions, no suggestion of tests....nothing. Typical).
Oh and my periods DID get closer together. Before I started the Pill I was on a 30 day schedule. The Pill put me on the normal 28 day, then after stopping the Pill I dropped to 25 days. Peri symptoms started at the same time my periods changed.
This time around I had the PMS just like normal, and have had a dull crampy feeling in my pelvis, but still no period. Does missing a period mean that the next one will be heavier to compensate for the accumulation that didn't come down this month? God, I hope not.
The only thing that concerns me now is I guess I can't make plans around my period like I used to. Don't like that. I'm a serious planner. Don't like surprises, and starting your period when you weren't expecting to is the worst surprise of all.

Web,
I'm late too; it's been 43 days and counting and I too was 28 day Millie then moved into the shorter cycles: 25, 22, a couple of 17s day-ers and now....nothing....hmmmm.....had a few scares but again, nothing.
I must admit, the lack of a period does leave me a bit lost as I realize how dependant on my cycle I was as far as "ok, it's ovulaton week, then bloated breast week, then "get out of way right now or I'll ^&%^#%^#$^%#$%^#$$#" week, then "awwwwwwww the feeling light and airy" week....
Not sure where I am in the peri to post adventure but I'm sure I'll see it again.....just in case, whenever I'm wearing white, I consciously carry a light jacket or sweater for emergency wrapping purposes

......
Maybe I can get my psyche back on the mend if this the end......

Web, I went from an every 23 or 24 day cycle to a 90 day cycle!! That was sweet, only having a period every 3 months. That lasted for two years....and then they just quit. Done. Finished. Finito. The signal a period was coming for me was the lack of hot flashes. When they quit, I knew a period was coming.
I have my fingers crossed for ya!!

I knew it was too good to last. Started my period yesterday. RATS!!! So instead of my regular 25 day cycle, this one was 33 days. Not a LOT longer than normal, but enough to give me hope. But now a new development -- hot flashes. I haven't had many of those...maybe one every couple of weeks or so. I've had more in the last three days than I've had in the last three months. And they're INTENSE too! Not just a slight warmth like usual ones I have, but really overwhelming waves of heat and sweat. I'm convinced now that I'm finally approaching the end of this road. But judging from these flashes (have had three since I've been typing this), I get the feeling the road is gonna get bumpier towards the end.
