Hi,

I just happened to stumble across the most wonderful YouTube video. It is a little long, but really worth it. It is a lecture by Dr. Jeanne Leventhal from CA. It has lots of good info about depression in meno. Go to YouTube and type in "Mood and Menopause" in the little search box. It is 45 minutes long, so be sure you have plenty of time to watch it. I had to in 2 settings, but she makes so much sense and I really enjoyed it.

This is excellent. I haven't watched all of it yet - and think I'd probably need to watch it more than once to really grasp the information about neurotransmitters and hormones. It's so interesting though that she says that there are a subset of women who're affected by hormonal changes in terms of mood. The beliefs about menopause amongst the medical community as well as in society generally, even as late as the sixties and seventies that she discusses are astonishing - they really do women a disservice.

Thanks for posting this.

Ok so that video just went against every tning that the bio-identical Drs. say. They want you pumped on P and not E. Boy am I getting confused. Maybe this is why I am depressed all the time. Dr. Pumps in the P cream But dosent give me any E cream. My Estridial level is low also. So after watching that I dont know what to do.

Yes, tell me about confusion.... lots of doctors contradict one another. Evidently, there is so much research going on and everyone has their opinions.

I just know that the P sent me into a much, much deeper depression. I have read where it acts on the brain like a benzo especially the transdermal type. It is very calming, but also in some women can cause depression and dizziness. I am scared to try it again.

And by the way, the withdrawal off it after I had been on it awhile.... a total, total nightmare!!!!

Good luck getting your levels right. If your E is low, why did they not put you on that as well?
