I am 45, have had uterine fibroids for 7 years, but no symptoms until the last four months-cramping, spotting, irregular bleeding, sometimes a gush then nothing within hours. Doc said I am not ready for surgery and we discussed options: the pill or depo shot. I did the depo shot 7 days ago. I feel flushed and took my temperature-it ranges anywhere from 97.9 to 99.4 and I am not sick. The last two days I have felt like I am having PMS X 50! This would be the normal time I would start getting PMS. I feel hot, sweaty at night, moody, sad, cranky, tired. Is this normal? Will it go away when the shot wears off in another agonizing 11 weeks? Anything to get rid of any of the symptoms?

Thanks for your help.

I was on the depo shot for medical reasons too. I hated the symptoms i had. I don't remember having a fever but I gained weight, my hair fell out, my breast hurt all the time and it raised my blood pressure. It did take away my migraines but I stopped taking the shot after a few times as I did not like the side effects. Have you called your doctor about the side effects you are having?

Doc said the night sweats can happen, but not the mood stuff...offered no real solution except to call my family doc. It is better now after 2 weeks. I did start what seems like my old typical period (light) before fibroid hell. I have no cramps and it is light. I am on the fence at this point. I don't want heavy bleeding and spotting with cramps yet I don't want to fell like I am in PMS hell either. I will see how these next 10 weeks go and evaluate.

My doc said it couldn't raise your blood pressure or make your hair fall out and it did mine. I think medicine effects people differently so you can't just go by the "Normal" reaction. Not everyone will have the same side effects. I have learned that.
