I had greasy hair when my periods began. Everything settled in those mid years then as I started to go fully menopausal my hair went dry and brittle. Talk about a bad hair day. Couldn't do a thing with it. About a year into the time with no periods I had greasy hair like never before but it was actually good news because greasy hair is protected hair that once washed can be glossy. I felt that the greasiness actually acted as a natural conditioner and brought my hair back into condition. Because the grease comes from the glands on the head their is nothing that any shampoo can do. It is actually an urban myth, ask any teenager. The only thing you can do is wash regularly with a gentle shampoo so that you do not do any damage. For me, the grease has now gone again and my hair is really improving and actually has its shine back which is a great relief. (I am 52)
I think that I am saying do not knock greasy hair because it is protective at this age and I think that the excessive greasiness is just another stage in this mad journey.

Cheers

Yup! I am in the greasy hair stage this week myself.......last week it handled beautifully....looked shiny....and this week I look like I washed it in baby oil. I have given up fighting with it when it gets like this......will last about a week so will just pull it back into a small ponytail and let it be. No sense trying to make it do what it does not want to do. Just frustrate myself. huh.gif
