Chilly,
I noticed I'm having a lot of flashing and severe after 3 or 4 days on Femarelle but I did go off of the patch so that could factor into it. I don't notice any swelling at all. I had a lot of swelling on the patch. I may be going through estrogen withdrawal. I've never really been without some form of estrogen since my hysterectomy 4 1/2 years ago) so I could be just having hot flashes from that. I've been off the patch for a few weeks. I guess I will wait a few more weeks and see if the hot flashes go away. Since I'm not experiencing the swelling this could work out okay. I would hate to give up too early. I'm so tempted to go right back on estrogen because I can't stand these hot flashes. Also I'm depressed since going off the estrogen. However, the side effects, for me, were not tolerable so I think I may just have to do my time for awhile.
I'll keep you posted. I just wish there was a form of estrogen that I did not have a bad reaction too. I've tried alot, including the pellets, which, I think, were the best. However, when I got the pellets I also got testosterone pellets and they made me lose hair on my head, grow a moustache and become aggressive. It took me awhile to get that out of my system.
Maybe my body will just find homeostatsi one of these days!

Ok Chilly,
I've been taking it for a week and I'm going crazy and my breasts are sore and swollen. I broke down and put on some progesterone cream and feel a little better. I haven't used any estrogen therapy in over 2 weeks so I know it is not that. Plus, the estrogen I was using was transdermal so I am sure it is out of my system by now.
Here's my take on it. Femarelle feels like copious amounts of estrogen. It's just entirely too strong for me. I think the dose is way too high, and, like any other estrogen-type therapy, it has to be tailored to the individual.
I'm going to try to take just 1/2 pill (empty out the powder and save the other half for the nighttime) in the next week. If that doesn't solve my problem then I will taper off of it and go back to the bio-identicals, either sublingual or oral. I think, for sure, that a balance needs to be found between any estrogen or estrogen mimicing therapy and progesterone, at least for me.
I am still searching after 4 1/2 years for the right combo and I won't give up until I find it.
Femarelle seems like it would be good if it wasn't a fixed dose for everyone. It's also hard to tell exactly how much you're getting when you dump some of the pill out.
I hope this helps.

Also, I have been having the worst hot flashes that I've ever had in my life. Oh well...another test that failed.
I hope this helps.
