Full Version: Turtle shoes, how is the femarelle working
Hi, I tried to PM you but your feature was disabled. I was just wondering how the femarelle was working for you? It seemed to increase my hot flashes. Don't understand why. Thanks Chilly

I guess I haven't set up my profile yet. Sorry. I tried it for a few days last week and got really sleepy. I was wondering if my breasts were getting bigger or not because of that thread from 2006. I just started it again a few days ago. My flashes did increase at first when I stared it last week. That hasn't happened this week.
I've had a total hysterectomy so I'm not sure if it will work the same way for me as it does with someone who still has their ovaries. I did notice that I felt a little bloated last week but this problem can be solved by staying away from unrefined carbohydrates and too much salt.
I wish I had more to tell you but I don't.
How long have you been taking it and how much worse are your hot flashes? Sometimes when hormone levels change (and femarelle mimics estrogen) we can get more hot flashes at first before things settle down.
One thing I did notice is when I get that awful morning 'burning' and I take a femarelle, within a few hours it is gone. I think that I will give it more of a chance this time, i.e. take it long enough to see if it really works.

Oh, yes, one more thing, I did notice that it doesn't cause the fog or irritability that the patch does. Also, I think I may be having some withdrawal from the patch. The patch was making my muscles tense and I was bloated, cranky and foggy. I had a pretty bad reaction to vivelle.
I tried to pm you too and it didn't work. Maybe there is a rule about pm's that I don't know about yet.

Thank You Turtleshoes for your relpy. I only took it for a week and already my feet were swelling up. Not a whole lot, but enough to notice. I did feel in just that one week that I felt stronger, body wise. My body didn't feel so heavy when getting up from sitting or going up stairs. What really bothered me was having hot flashes back to back all day and all night. I could not get a decent nights sleep and was tired thru out the day. I'm afraid that my BP will go up with my body holding water taking the Femarelle. Even though with all these concerns, I have to say I felt so much better. I also had less aches and pains in my body to. I know,..... hard to believe that one. LOL So..... I stopped taking it. My flashes had calmed down quite a bit. Just the norm of one every couple of hours. I am going to start taking Maca now and see how that works. Maybe I won't hold water and get those awful hot flashes with it. Need to order it yet. PLease let me know in a couple of weeks how your still doing on the Femarelle. I may have to go back on it again if the Maca doesen't help. My PM seems to be working fine. I've been taking it for a week and I'm going crazy and my breasts are sore and swollen. I broke down and put on some progesterone cream and feel a little better. I haven't used any estrogen therapy in over 2 weeks so I know it is not that. Plus, the estrogen I was using was transdermal so I am sure it is out of my system by now.
Here's my take on it. Femarelle feels like copious amounts of estrogen. It's just entirely too strong for me. I think the dose is way too high, and, like any other estrogen-type therapy, it has to be tailored to the individual.
I'm going to try to take just 1/2 pill (empty out the powder and save the other half for the nighttime) in the next week. If that doesn't solve my problem then I will taper off of it and go back to the bio-identicals, either sublingual or oral. I think, for sure, that a balance needs to be found between any estrogen or estrogen mimicing therapy and progesterone, at least for me.
I am still searching after 4 1/2 years for the right combo and I won't give up until I find it.
Femarelle seems like it would be good if it wasn't a fixed dose for everyone. It's also hard to tell exactly how much you're getting when you dump some of the pill out.

Thank you turtleshoes for the update, I started the femarelle again, 2 days now. I decided to use the Menopause Wisdom Formula with it because it is a strong diuretic. So that should keep alot of the swelling in order. I read up on everything that was used to make this formula and the Apium graveolens ( which is celery ) is what has the diuretic affect. Also the other plants and seeds they use have the same affect to. Also a warning not to be used with a kidney problem. The thing I noticed is I feel alot calmer taking femarelle alone, but when I take it with the Wisdom Formula, I feel a little jittery. Also wide awake at night. I know what your feeling with your breasts. Mine have been swollen and sore with a burning feeling long before I took anything for menopause. I've read this is very common in menopause. I feel like I have heart burn in my breasts. LOL Crazy, I know.l I just hope I don't kill myself self medicating . Who knows what these natural herbs do to you. Now I'm worried about my kidneys.
