Full Version: Can anyone relate...not sure about this one?!

Hi ladies,

I need expertise yet again. I'm not quite sure what I'm experiencing. It has been occuring at bedtime, it is an internal feeling, sort of like my insides are on "fast forward"...a really unsettling feeling, kind of like I'm a can of soda and I've been shaken and once you open the lid, watch out? Is this a new part to my anxiety? Is this peri related? It makes me not want to sleep because I'm so afraid that I won't wake up not to mention that it interferes with my falling off to sleep...my insides just feel so strange. Last night it was so bad that I thought I was going to have to wake my hubby but I didn't...wasn't sure if I would awake this morning.

What is this? Anyone else???????

Thank you,
Tracey

I am no expert but I do know from personal experience that I have had that internal shaking. Mine was in the day. It was so bad that if I sat down my heart would pound so bad that I had to get up and walk around. I could not relax. The shaking was so bad. I believe it is all anxiety related. Which is from all these crazy hormones trying to find the right place.
I hope that you find something that will ease it for you. I would use xanax when needed. It took the edge off.
Hope your nights are better

Tracey:

i feel this way most of the time. Is is either characterized as the "internal shakes" or adrenaline/cortisol rushes. Many ps ladies have this symptom. It leads to something I affectionatley call "wired and tired". I am sorry you are dealing with it because it toally s**cks and is so hard to describe to anyone who hasn't felt it. But the "shaken can of soda" is. unfotunately a dead on description. The very first time I felt it is burned into my memory - just a major chemical buzz coming up from my toes in reaching all the way to my throat where it kinda gets stuck. Hang in there baby!

Pooks,

How do you deal with this feeling most of the time? It is very frightening but also just generally weird...really hard for me to describe aside from the soda can comparison...my hubby thinks that I have absolutely lost my mind. I probably have. Sad to be almost 39 and feeling like this...sleep helps me to escape this craziness and when something interferes with my sleep, well, it's just not good. Insomnia has returned with a vengeance...the other night I didn't fall asleep until 5:15 am....and lately, when I'm not feeling like a "can of Coke!" if I fall asleep at a regular time I'm wide awake again by 1 am....

I hope today finds you well. Hugs to you and thanks for your input.

I have this all the time, and your "can of soda" analogy is perfect. I've said that I feel like my blood is carbonated. And yep, it's definitely peri-related. There is a whole forum here on PS dedicated to internal shaking. That's what I was searching for when I found Power Surge to begin with.

Sishaircut,

Thanks for your response...this stuff is so overwhelming to me, I have a hard time understanding how estrogen (or lack thereof) can wreak such havoc on the entire body...with this newest feeling I became unsettled yet once again. Sorry to hear that you experience this weird sensation as well, it is very hard to relax with this feeling...so bad when it hits me in bed at night. I have Xanax but a very limited supply left, dr will NOT prescribe it again, it's only a bandaid to the problem as he puts it. I think I will try a xanax tonight though, maybe I'll get some much needed sleep.

Take good care,
Tracey

Webalina,

Yes, yes, yes....carbonated blood...that's it. My heart has been really strange too, kind of heavy but pounding? I just feel so entirely weird, just "NOT RIGHT"....thank you for adding this post. While I am truly sorry that you have experienced this, thank goodness others have as well....my hubby really thinks that I've gone off the deep end.

Take good care,

Tracey:

Are you still cycling? Is it irregular? Does this feeling correlate with your cycle? Have you had your bloods done, hormone and thyroid panel? Are you afraid to take your xanax when needed because of the limited supply? Perhaps you should find a more compassionate Dr.? If you had diabetes, would your Dr. deny you medicine? Do you know about Claire Weekes. Her books have helped many but I live with her CD in my car and listen to it somethimes everday while I drive here and there.

Just my thoughts and opinions.

Keep posting and may your "fizz" run out. wink.gif

The strange heart thing is probably palpitations, another big topic on these here boards.

Pooks,
I am still cycling but irregular, anywhere from 13 to 36 days....not as bad as some, but for me, I was a 28 days on the dot type of gal. My cycle was very strange this month, 2 in one month and I bled for 10 days...never happened before. Then these strange feelings started, week 2 of my cycle. My thyroid has been tested, my dr said normal...still, I have symptoms of hypo but he says "normal". I only take my Xanax during absolute terrible times...I only have about 20 pills left and without another script, I don't know what I'll do. I know that people can become addicted to Xanax, but honestly, I am NOT an abuser...I only take .25 mg on an as needed basis...but my dr said no, I need a psychiatrist and the psychiatrist said no...my gyn will not write any scripts at all, if I have a urinary tract infection they make me call my PCP for a script...very frustrating...I do need to find a more compassionate dr. but it's hard...so many of them are like this, that's why I originally switched and now here I am again.

Hope you're doing well today...thanks for the post.

Take care,
Tracey

Hi TDF770, I know exactly what your talking about, first time I had that I almost woke my husband up! I am almost 48 and I'll tell you it takes everything I got not to start popping tranquilizers to get through this until my period stoppes but i do not want to face the withdrawels down the line. Sometimes magnesium helps this feeling. I also hike alot.
