Anna
First off I don't know if I posted this in the proper place..sorry if I did. I looked for a proper place and couldn't find one.
Over the past ten years I suppose I have had a bit of a problem with allergies, nothing real serious. I can go off allergy
pills and just take them as needed. But this Spring as I worked in the garden the first day, that evening it was like my
sinuses were totally clogged and the pressure! I tried my pills and that seemed to help. Well it flared up again as I
worked in the garden about a week later.
Do we get more sensitive in regards to allergies in meno? Or is it because pollen count is higher this year...or so I have heard.
Also it has been really dry where I live. Another possibilty, I added some more soil to my flower beds. The soil I grabbed had
sheep manure in it.
I am five years post.

Confused...

You are correct about the increase in allergies at this time of life. I think that the hormone balance during our reproductive years has a protective effect as far as allergies are concerned.
Healthly mucous membranes which line all our passages protect us from hypersensitivity and allergy and once the full compliment of oestrogen has gone we are much more vulnerable to allergens. I went to see my doctor when this started to happen to me and he just looked at me vacantly. I have since researched the subject myself. I feel angry that so many doctors are so utterly ingnorant when it comes to things such as this. I know that no-one can do much to solve the problem but if it were acknowledged, it might help us to understand the new challenges we face or at least ease some of the anxiety.

enough
It may be a combination of the air and the hormones. Whatever it is, I would like it to stop. Right now in fact. I take claritan daily and still feel clogged. This past week was worse. I still had cheek pain, ear pain, temples felt squeezed, and a pain on top of my head, like there was a weight on it. I even had the dizzies every now and then. I had a broken air conditioner for three weeks and that made it worse. Now, it's fixed and I am hoping for relief.

Good luck with this. I hope you feel better.

Dear 'Anna'
I believe this was a particularly bad year for those with seasonal allergies.
When I finally went to the ENT he gave me a strong course of Antibiotics.Felt better and then after about two weeks back to square one.Went to my local friendly Pharmacist who gave me a cheap Anti Histamine-very effective-along with the Netti-Pot and full instructions on how to use it.
Great results. So give it a try!
I live in The Middle East so very hot and dry.
Just remembered chew gum,it keeps the mouth moist.

Hope all improves soon.

All the Best
Elizabeth

---------((((( Anna )))))) I'm sorry, it does stink!
I have tond more than I did 10 years ago. I asked 2 Allergists who are Great and looked on line.
All they said was that the warming weather has the trees pollinating more. Not freezing off in winter.
But he idea that "*maybe* the increase is that the number of Meno Gals increases every year due to the Baby Boom(ers).

I hope you get throu or get to a Dr who can help.
I can't stand those migraines that start in your sinuses.
I've been hearing for 15 years that the majority of Migraines are sinus/allergy related.
Hoping you feel better soon!

Hugs,
Mary Beth

Dear Mary Beth
Have the strangest feeling that Menopause is just a stinking time in our lives
Then I was with the Autistic children and realised how blessed we are.

Warm Wishes
Elizabeth
