About 3 months ago I decided to try progesterone cream for my peri symptoms. I was using Progest and had a slight improvement, but nothing major. I read that it usually takes a few months to see improvements so I might not have given it enough time. I scheduled my annual and wanted to discuss getting bloodwork done so I stopped the progesterone cream. My gyn would not do bloodwork saying hormones fluctuate but did give me bcp. I started taking them right away and had horrible side effects. About 3 days after stopping the bcp and pretty much ever since(about 2 weeks), I have been light headed/dizzy and had no real desire to eat. I just feel blah. I went to my GP and she did some bloodwork and everything came back "normal" except for elevated fsh which I already knew about. Over the past 2 years, my highest fsh level was 24 and this month is was 12.2

I was wondering if it's because my body was used to getting the additional progesterone and I pretty much stopped cold turkey. I mentioned this to my GP and she did not seem to think that was why I was feeling the way I do. She blamed it on stress. rolleyes.gif

Has anyone else ever had this happen after stopping progesterone cream?

I started up again today so I'm hoping my symptoms will ease up and eventually go away.

I cut back on my progesterone dose last year and I have been experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms; depression, anxiety, heart palpitations, strange thoughts, trembling, panic attacks.
I think I cut down the dose too drastically and then I tried to correct this by going back to the dose I was on originally. Doing this seemed to mess with my cortisol levels and I have felt very unwell since. It has been over a year. I'm just starting to see some improvement but it has been very slow going and all year I have been making subtle changes to my dose.
You mentioned only having been on it for three months so hopefully it will take you a shorter time to get back to normal.
Your symptoms are different to mine but I could believe that it is because of stopping abruptly. Hope you feel better soon.
Did you get your blood work done? Did it show any signs of deficiency?

I stopped taking the progesterone cream because I was having such bad anxiety when I started taking it for a few days. Since I have quit taking it, my anxiety is still horrible and I am having headaches. Feel a little loss of appetite as well. Can't believe it is not connected, because I had none of this before I used it.

PB how long were you using the cream? Have you had a blood serum test done to see if you even need P? I wouldn't toss the idea of P working for you out the window. I would find a good BHRT doctor and give a script ago instead of OTC products.
