Hi all smile.gif

It just dawned on me today that the symptoms I've been having the past month might be pre-menopause. First off, I've always been regular with my periods, but the last 6 months or so, they have been heavier. I was scheduled to start my period on 24 May, and it started right on time, but it was extremely light--so light that I needed no protection, only had to wipe each time I went to the bathroom. It has been like this from 24 May and is still happening today (3 June).
That was my first indication.
Then for the past month, I have been feeling generally yucky. I've had bouts of what I thought were vertigo or weird balance problems. I did an ear candling two days ago because I thought I had wax buildup that was causing the problem. It is better, not nearly as bad, but I've had it happen a couple times since.

Today, I went from almost bursting into tears at my husband to ripping him a new one. Same with my kids. The littlest stupid stuff makes me go over the edge. I have noticed lately, I am quick to anger, which is not like me. I have never been one to get emotional, but almost crying while talking to my hubby yesterday while yelling at him that he doesn't appreciate what I do, blah, blah.... I don't think I normally would have said or done that.

The last two years I joked that I was having hot flashes, which I was, but thougth I was way too young to be premenopausal. I turned 44 a couple of days ago. I started my period when I was 10 yrs old. I have 2 older sisters who are going through it, and they started their periods later, like 14 and 16.

My mother died at 40, so I don't know when she would have started. Both my grandmother and only aunt got total hysterectomies in their early 30's.

I haven't mentioned it to my dr. because I haven't seen her since all this started. I'm sure I have other symptoms that I missed or haven't connected with perimenopause.

Does it sound like I'm starting perimenopause?

Betty

ps. Thanks for this great site! Lots of info, and lots of stories to read about others experiences.

Betty,

Welcome to Power Surge!

In my opinion, I think you are starting perimenopause. I've had all the symptoms you've described and many more... mellow.gif

Thanks for the nice welcome. smile.gif

Boy, do I feel guilty for talking to my husband like that! It took me a couple of hours, but I apologized to him and told him I think I might be hormonal. I'm going to read as much of this site as I can tonight when I get a chance to sit down. Also gonna call my sister. She knew about my light period, but I haven't told her about my emotional outbursts.

So glad I found this place. So glad there are others to talk to about this.

You'll be seeing a lot of me around here. wink.gif

Welcome to PS! It sounds like peri to me also. When I first found this site, I had been in peri for several years and didn't realize it. I printed out the long list of symptoms and kept it handy. Whenever I had a new symptom, I would check it off. Now there's not very many that are not checked off! rolleyes.gif

I know one thing.....reading all the information and message boards on here have taught me more than any book or Dr. ever did! biggrin.gif

Hi Betty,
Yes, it does sound like peri to me!!! Welcome to Power Surge. It is full of good information plus these message boards are wonderful to let us know that we are not losing our minds after all!

I would do things when all this started and think, "why did I do that???" My anger, irritability, and things getting on my nerves was the first stage, then the anxiety, depression, brain fog, hot flashes, and every other of the 34 symptoms set in. But wanted to let you know that yes, the anger and irritability sounds like peri to me. We are all different, but like I said, that was the first of the worst part for me. (Not to mention crying at the drop of a hat at just anything!!!)

Hang in there with all the rest of us....

Welcome! The best advice I could ever give anyone about menopause is the educate their families...especially their husbands! If you don't, they have no clue what is going on and can cause them a great deal of pain that is can be avoided! Your world and theirs will be a better more peaceful place if they know exactly what is going on with you during menopause! Good luck. Oh, one more thing....this meno thing is like a ride at a carnaval. Get in, sit down and hold on tight! It can get bumpy and you are allowed to scream as loud as you like. While it can be a scary ride at times it can also be VERY exillerating and you will exit this ride a new and better you!
