You have a good doctor!! Armour is a thyroid replacement. I was given Synthroid to start for my low thyroid and it only made me sicker. Then my nurse practitioner gave me Armour Thyroid. Between getting on Armour and Bio-identical hormones I feel like I have my life back!! You'll want to start on 30 mg.s for a couple of weeks...then work up to 60...have your levels checked after a month or so at 60 and see how your doing. Armour has done wonders for lots of people when the usual Synthroid that the docs prescribe so often leave folks with lots of their symptoms or even adding more.

Good luck to you....feel free to message me!

I have been on Armour for over 6 years now, i started out on 15mg and im still at 15mg and it has brought my numbers down to 1 now instead of 6 point 9 in the beginning. they told me they wanted to eventually work me up to around 80mg but its never been necessary. i have hashimotos/hypo. anyway ive never had a bad reaction or felt it made me feel bad in any way, which is really suprising seeing as how im so super-sensitive to everything out there.

I'm glad this thread was started.

I've been on Synthroid for a few years and I swear it's made minimal impact on me. I'm on .088mg & am due for bloodwork to see if it needs to be raised. I understand Synthroid raises your T4 levels in the hopes that your thyroid will take over and raise your T3's too. That isn't always the case.

I'm going to insist on being put on Armour when I go back to my doctor. I'm tired of feeling lousy and tired of the horrible dry skin, puffy face & hair loss plus other symptoms.

I have been on Armour for 3 weeks and I have already noticed positive results. I have more energy and I've lost some weight. Oh yeah, and my eyebrows are growing back... plus they are growing in darker.. they were so thin!!
Another thing that has happened is that my asthma is so much better. I haven't even used my inhaler for two weeks. Is that due to the Armour? There must be some relationship there.

After only 3 weeks? I've been on it 6 months and I have gained weight; I'm still cold; still have dry skin; pain, low energy, anxiety, and depression. I also taked 15-20mg of hydrocortisone too. My dose is now 90mg and I don't feel much different than before I started.

what dose are you on and can you tell me your thyroid levels before you started?

I have been on it about a month in addition to my Progesterone oil caps...I feel wonderful. I was a little bit jittery for a few days but am fine now.

Hi,

After taking synthroid for 3 years for hashimoto's disease and thyroid cancer I have switched to armour. I've been on it a month and will have blood work done next week to make sure my levels are where they should be. I think for me it is a good change. I feel much better on armour.

This is the way I understand it.......Our thyroids make T4 which convert to T3 in a healthy body, T3 is what gives us energy and keeps our metabolism going. When our thyroids aren't working properly a sometimes a blood test will show TSH levels are high if you are hypothyroid , most doctors give you synthroid, which is only T4, and they think that is all you need. For some people synthroid (T4) never gets converted to the T3 in our bodies and therefore we keep our hypo symptoms. Armour is a natural thyroid medicine (from pigs) and it contains both T4 and T3 and most people feel better on armour. I am no expert on this subject, anyone please feel free to correct me if I haven't explained this right.

Good luck.

Jlm,
Sounds pretty accurate to me. I feel good on armour as well. I notice the jitters the first week as Divinci did but they're gone now and all is well so far.
