Dear Ladies,

I am very desperate to find a good doctor (understanding, knowledgable, kind, no-nonsense!) in New Jersey that would help me balance my hormones with bioidentical replacement therapy. For the past 3 months as I slip further and further into perimeno insanity, I have been in and out of different offices, most of which are just a bunch of people looking for a quick dollar, dont care at all about me or want to really figure out what is happening in my body. I am sure there are thyroid issues here too. And I am at my end...literally. If anyone out here knows of an Obgyn/Internist (not just an alternative med doc, but someone who knows the female reproductive system) that knows that they're doing and does offer testing and prescribing for BHRT, please please please email me. I dont care what township (although I live in the Middlesex area) I would be willing to travel 50 miles. I dont care if they are male or female. All I know is I need someone as soon as possible to help me. Or i think I might end up in a mental hospital.

Thank you so much....

Dee

I found my Dr several years ago on a thyroid website. Mary Shomons. He's is an alternative Dr. so he does everything including the bioidenticals. These dr.s are usually very good with thyroid issues also. I think it was under thyroid top docs. I haven't been on the site in a long time. Let us know

Hi Kackle,

Thank you so much. I have often thought about going to a thyroid doctor. But I just have such bad luck looking up alternative doctors. I either get put on hold and no one ever comes back, or the doctor is rude and nasty, just on the phone call! or they want to waste my time with vitamin drips and poo poo the thyroid/peri stuff. I get an appointment and they dont want to do the right tests, or they have no interest in what Im saying or what I think is wrong, its horrible and I am just suffering so badly right now.

I need a real person from someone who knows someone. I cant live another minute like this.

Thanks again, so much. I appreciate your kind response!
I will let you know....

Dee, I'm afraid that this peri , and thyroid, stuff can unfortuantely involve interviewing alot of docs. Even the best don't have all the knowledge or answers. And, they can have differing approaches to healthcare. I had to interview quite a few docs before I've settled on my 2 gyn's (from different practices.) One is also an gyn, fertility endocrinologist. My other gyn has alot of experience too. My basic endocrinologist is useless to me. Basically, keep interviewing until you find one you can work with. I'll PM you with some more info later. Hang in there. I understand. Regards, JZZ

Hi JZZ,

Thanks so much for your insight, I do believe its true that you just have to keep searching, but when you feel like C***! its so hard, you feel so desperate. I like the idea of a fertility endocrinologist....never heard that before.

Actually I just called up Hopewell Compounding Pharmacy in NJ and they did give me the name of a holistic internist who they said was wonderful. Her office is closed until June 1st, so I will try her next week. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. It all has become too much for me to bear alone. I need help soon.

Thank you,
Dee

The gyn that is also a fertility endocrinologist also does the gamut of gyn and basic ob work too. Hmmmm, now I wonder if a fertility endocrinologist doesn't have to be a gyn? Never thought of it before because I wanted a gyn who might actually understand how hormones work!!!!! Got this docs name by word of mouth. I tend to like personal recommendations from current patients because then I can get the "real" info on a doc. Good luck, JZZ And, I too did all my interviewing 2 years ago when I was slammed into Peri H*ll. Not easy, I understand.

I live in the midwest but, my Dr. uses Hopewell Pharmacy and I receive my thyroid meds from there. That's an awesome start. Good Luck.

Hey, forgot to post above. But, I use Hopewell Pharmacy too, but only for my compounded b12 shots. They are very reputable and great to work with. Don't have any experience with getting referrals from them. Hope the referral works out for you. JZZ

Dear Dee
I know how it feels to think you are slowly going insane.I have been there. And yes there is hope and Medications that will ease your problems

Unfortunately I live here in The Middle East but I will never forget the first Gyno.who diagnosed me as fully Menopausal at 39.He was so sympathetic and wondered why I had suffered so long.I thought it was a mental illness and was on ADs.He put me on HRT and it really worked.

He is no longer living in this area but i am seen regularly by a Gyno. who loves to scold me for being on HRT for so long-I am now 58,but who always does a full check-up..So in this respect have been lucky but this would mean a trip of more than 50 miles!

How about talking to friends who might have had a positive experience with their Gyno.
I wish you lots of Luck
Keep Posting
Warm Wishes

I called Hopewell Pharmacy yesterday evening to see what they would say in regard to a referral. (I don't see my doc anymore). Ugh. They gave me her name! I told them why I wasn't happy with her (she's anti hrt) and rude to her patients. Pharmacist she was the ONLY one in my state that prescribes through their pharmacy! uh oh.... Don't like the thought that referrals are determined by who sends the business their way. Anyway, I asked about surrounding states with other docs. Finally they found a doc at the other end of my state. Will be calling to today and ask a few questions. Did they give you more than one referral? JZZ

Dee-

I also live in Jersey and have been seeing a doctor who says my issues couldn't be hormonal due to my regular periods. I am very curious how you like the doctor you were referred to once you see her. Keep us informed on how you are doing!

Hugs and hope you feel better soon!
