I had my annual ultrasound and they found that I have fibroid the size of a golfball which GyN is not concerned about and kind of chuckled. But my lining was 8MM thick and he said that 4MM is normal.. Ihavent had a period in at least 15 months and have been treated for Complex Hyperplasia No atypia for about 3 years now.. Have annual biopsies and all has been well since January 2008. I take Prometrium for 10 days every month.
I'm having a Sonohysterogram on Thursday which gives immediate results if there is anything there and it's in the Doc's office. doc didnt think he'd find anything but if so then we're back to the D& C with hysteroscopy. I had one of those 3 summers ago also.

My biopsy this past January was normal and Dr had trouble getting tissue this go round becasue he said my lining was thin.. 3 months later 8MM??? I dont get it.. I have also been taking Baby Aspirin almost daily when I remember...LOL..

i'm a bit nervous about this..

Any feedback would be appreciative.. We're getting close to the day now so I'm getting a bit anxious about the whole thing.

Thanks

A few years ago my lining was 13mm (even with regular heavy periods). Like you, I had a D&C and hysteroscopy and it has been normal/thin since (age is probably thinning it out also..). I have fibroids also but smaller than yours, more the size of almonds (doctors watch them but don't seem to worry about them).

Unless i'm mistaken, doesn't Prometrium (progesterone) help thicken the lining? (so that it sloughs off with a period, which you're not having anymore). In pregnancy, women have high progesterone levels so the lining is thick to hold the fetus. Maybe ask the doctor about this. I never had luck with progesterone because it made me so depressed and other side effects. The fact that your lining fluctuated a lot seems like your body is still having hormonal shifts, even without periods.

It sounds like you're keeping on top of the hyperplasia with your biopsies and sonogram. Good luck this Thursday and please report back what they find out. If there's any doubt, i would have the D&C again (mine was a bigger deal than i thought, so I know how you must be feeling).

Try to get lots of rest this week and be good to yourself. hope all goes well thursday.

hi,

I was diagnosed with simple hyperplasia in April after a D & C with hysterscopyy. My lining was 21mm thick. I now have started taking provera to help shed my lining each month. I know that it is not working so far since I just started my 2nd month dose and have only light spotting so far. My lining was already 13mm just 4 weeks after my D & C. I am hoping after this 12 days on Provera I will have a period. I am also confused about you not having any periods. I am being prescribed the Provera to make me shed my lining. I hope everything goes well, keep us posted on how you are doing.

hi. the answer to your question is yes! i just completed my second pelvic examination/ultrasound with TVUS [drank a lot of water ahead of time for these tests]. my first endometrial lining measured at 7.3 mm.

the second test was performed two months later, and the lining *did* indeed shrink to 4 mm.

i am going to post this information in the thread where i began the [early]postmenopausal journey; there's additional information to follow.

i hope this helps you to relax a bit! i certainly wish you all the best!

Hi I am not sure how to reply...

Hi, can anyone give me some advice on Thickened lining.

I am 52 and completed period two years ago. I have spotted the odd time and a little discharge...I think I had some bleeding as well. Sex is extremely painful but I thought it went in hand with Menopause. Last week I start bleeding quite heavy. Took myself to a hospital as I am new to the province and the rest of my family has not arrived yet. The doctor booked me for a pelvic exam. Showed 12 mm of thickness of the endometrium. They did a biopsy there and then. I healthy I thought, and very frightenend as results take 3 weeks. Reading the internet on Endometrial Hyperplasia is scaring me big time.

I have never been on sites like this so I am just learning...Don't even know how to see your replies or post a new message..

Any similar stories would be great and maybe encouraging as I feel very alone.

Thanks

No I didn't get any other message. To find your subscribed messages click on "my controls" near the top of the page to the right, and then click on "view topics". You can find all the threads that you are involved in there.
You also need to then go to options (also in "my controls") and click on "E-mail settings" to ensure you are notified when a post is added to a thread you have subscribed to. Then you just click on the link and it will take you to the next added post.
I hope you get this one and you can then set it up properly.
If you need any other help with using the board please just ask. It does take a while to find your way around.
Best wishes
