I'm probably one of many confused by this........
Long story short....1 1/2 years ago, I had 2 months of bleeding/spotting. Dr. did biopsy,ultrasound,etc....said I needed Prometrium to shed uterine lining. Just like he said, spotting stopped, and a few days after the last of the 12 days of pills, a period started. That apparently jumpstarted things back to normal last year. I had a few normal cycles,and a few skipped cycles, but no spotting or anything out of the ordinary.
Fast forward to this year....Cycled in January, nothing but some brown spotting in February, then skipped March and April. However during that time, the massive hot flashing stopped also. Breasts became sore. I decided to go early to the Dr. instead of waiting for my normal July appointment. He felt nothing out of the ordinary, but did notice I had alot of estrogen...during the manual exam,and that explained the breast soreness. Did a transvaginal ultrasound,and saw some endometrial buildup and an ovarian cyst. He said the cyst appeared benign. He gave me Prometrium to take like I did before...12 days worth...then said a period should start, to shed the built-up lining. Well, on Day 7 of Prometrium, a period did start,and I bled for 8 days, like a regular period. I called him to ask if this was ok...he said usually it doesn't start that early, but that it was ok, and to continue taking the Prometrium. He then said I would have a heavier period after I finished the dosage.
Somehow, that doesn't make sense to me! I had 8 days of bleeding while ON Prometrium....my last pill was nearly a week ago, and there has been no bleeding since. Should I still expect a sloughing off of the lining??
Or was what I had during the course of the Prometrium, IT??? I don't know if I should call him after this weekend or not....what would he do?? Probably nothing? He wants me to take Prometrium every 3 months.........so not till August.
Anybody else with this problem??
