This happens to me on occasion and was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I sometimes get the fibromyalgia type feeling of pain around my mid section and back. I feel achy all over like I am getting the flu. Meantime, I feel like a tight band under my rib cage and makes me feel short of breath. Once the achy feeling goes, that feeling goes as well. Any one else get this.

YES!!! I am having the shortness of breath thing too!! I am also very tender to the touch at the very bottom of the sternum and it's constant. Don't have the tight band feeling, but I definitely struggle to breath, especially when I exert myself, even the least bit.

Tidal, not sure if you posted it already, but was wondering if you had your shortness of breath checked out by a doctor, just to make sure it is not somethign serious.

I suffer from this from time to time. I have been checked out for it in the past. Sometimes I still wonder if they missed something.

I hope you feel better soon. It is very distressing.

I have had it checked out. Had chest xrays last week, a pulmonary function test this week and a gastric scope next week. Nothing found so far.

Well that is good news so far. Sometimes I get short of breath climbing stairs also and activities, but I can do exercises (not enough) and walk for half an hour sometimes (not enough). I think for me it could be heart deconditioning because I do sit for many hours working and not enough activity, so that could be why am so out of breath, hence out of shape. I dont work out enough.

For me it is not so much shortness of breath when moving around but rather a feeling like my mucscles are so achy and like a tight band around my mid section that gives me a feeling that I cannot breath. I read a post awhile back where someone talked about afternoon muscle aches and fllu like symptoms. That is what if feels like. I also have the sternum pain. If you press there, it about sends me through the roof. I still think fibro.

What's with the sternum pain?

I suspect I have a hiatal hernia, but I won't know anything until next week. I tested positive for the h pylori bacteria, so I assume I have an ulcer too, but that would not account for the sternum pain, or would it?

Sheesh!!!

Hi there,

There is a close link between hormonal changes and fibromyalgia in women. maybe get the pain threshold test for fibro or at least bring it up with your doctor.......

Hope it improves sweetie.......
