Is there a food that you could eat when you were younger and cannot tolerate now? For me that would be eggs. This week, for the fourth time, I have puked after eating just 2 bites of fried eggs. This happened twice last year...I made an omelet and after eating a couple bites, I got extremely( and I mean violently) nauseaus. I could not even make it to the bathroom. I thought it was a fluke and then I tried it the next week and the same thing happened. I gave up on eggs for a long time..I went to Dennys this year March and I braved a delicious omelet. I ate it fine, no nausea. On Tuesday, I made scrambled eggs, put some spinach in it and chopped turkey bacon, and 2 bites later I had to run to the bathroom. The smell did not bother me while making it but while eating it, I started getting nauseaus and I knew I was not going to control it. I had to run to the bathroom. I got violently sick and the smell made it worse.

Has this happened to anyone? Is there a food you can no longer eat that you loved? I don't notice this with any other food. I do eat different now than I did when younger. I mostly just eat fish and chicken now. Hardly ever eat red meat. I eat tons of vegetables also, Stirfry being my favorite.

Thanks for any replies.

Yes I find I can't eat like I used too. If I do I pay for it dearly.

Yes, at times I have a hard time figuring out what to eat and things taste differently sometimes. Nausea was one of my earliest symptoms.

I can't any longer eat soft boiled eggs for Bf, they make me nauseous. I can eat fried eggs, omelets, no problem, but if boiled, must be hard boiled and cold, like in salads.
I used to love soft boiled eggs in the morning, now I can't no longer have them, the smell makes me nauseous, something about warm boiled eggs, blech.
I almost puked once, since then, I avoid them completely, even when DH has boiled eggs, it makes me nauseous.
Steak is also harder to digest now, as it sits in my stomach like a brick.
I think as we get older, we produce less stomach acid and digestive enzymes, it is common problem, so I try to eat light and have yougurt and kefir pretty much after every meal, this aids digestion.
I eat lots of vegetables too, and fresh fruit, fish and chicken, lots of soups, this is my favorite, and red meat mostly in stews and soups, very well cooked, not so much steaks.
Oh well, perhaps, it is for the better, our body is trying to tell us something. smile.gif

My dad is in his 70's and has stated on several occasions that as we get older we can not eat like we did in our earlier years.

I've noticed that certain carbs. (white flour, white rice) irritates my ibs, causes reflux, and nausea. Lately, I feel better by eating mainly fish, veggies, and brown rice. Certain foods also aggravate the arthritis in my knee and shoulders.

You'd think I would not have a weight issue with these dietary restrictions, lol smile.gif.

Yes my friend
I love chocolate and ice-cream but now the smallest portion has my stomach blowing up like a balloon and its off to the 'Little Girl's Room' for me.I also enjoyed the occasional glass of wine. Now cannot tolerate even a drop, just end up with the jitters.

All the Best

Wow, I guess every part of our bodies change as we get older including our stomachs not tolerating certain things anymore. Thanks for sharing.

Iradan, I understand the egg issue with the smell, maybe it is one of those foods that can easily nauseate us with that smell.

Elizabeth, chocolate and occasional wine? OH NO! your body has certainly betrayed you.

My diet has completely changed in the past few years, not by choice, but because i just can't tolerate the same foods anymore.I can't eat anything spicy because it gives me real bad indigestion, can't eat ice cream,i get constipation, can't eat any mayonnaise at all,it makes me very ill with vomiting, can't even eat yogurt because it bloats my stomach too much....but on a positive note,i don't have to worry about my weight, since there's not much i can eat anymore i am very thin.
