Hello
Has anyone tried Mefenamic acid for heavy bleeding. Your experiences please? I'd be so grateful!
Thanks!

Hello Evening Primrose
I think that is the same as 'Ponstan' which has been around a long time as a painkiller on prescription. If so, it was advised I took a large dose for heavy bleeding (I think 4 tabs but you need to check dose with doc), and if I remember correctly I just took 2 tabs on a couple of different occasions, and they did slow the flow. And no bad side effects.

I used it towards the end of peri where I was having flooding issues. It worked great, I usually only needed it take it for 2 days. I had no side effects from it either. I also cut the recommended initial dosage in half and it still worked. My was recommended that you would take a double dose for the first one, and then a regular one....I never doubled up the first one.

Thanks girls.
Did you find out what the cause of your heavy bleeds were? I have a fibroid which I think could be contributing to my heavy bleeds, but I need an evaluaton, since it's been two years that I had the appropriate investigations and scans.
Thanks!
