I called my Gyno yesterday, and said that I would like to come and that I was interested in having my hormone levels checked... Explained that everytime I Ovulate I get severe bouts of anxiety and panic attacks. Then once I ovulate I seem to get better. Also told her that although for my entire life my period came every 2-3 months, due to the Endometriosis, I am now having it every 20 - 26 days... And that is soooo heavy...

I get the call back today...

Oh Dr. Sam understands how you feel, but you need understand that there NO TEST THAT CAN ACCURATELY TEST YOUR HORMONE LEVELS mad.gif (oh really...hmmm)
And that you bouts anxiety has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR HORMONES. And since you are having your period every month, your HORMONES ARE FINE!! (oh really...) That I must understand that anxiety has to do with the neurostimulators in your brain, and if the Ativan is not helping perhaps we can put you on PAXIL....

Remaining to stay calm, since I had my son nearby, and was trying to avoid him over hearing the conversation. I ask him to sit in the truck, and calmly explained, then why is it each time I ovulate my Anxiety goes out the roof, and I have Panic Attacks. I have clearly seen a cylce to my symptoms... She was ah, hun, I know how you feel (I am thinking no you sound like you are about 22 years old you aint go a clue)... Oh but she will...

I was so upset, but not at all surprised, why is it we can't find good doctors.... For sure I am done w/that one. I should of known, she is all into delivering babies, and the she ain't old enough yet to experience this crap...

So now not only am I searching for a good General Physician, now I need a new GYN. I would love to find a good Family doctor that saw both sides of the coin. Because according to these doctors, it is all in our minds.... OMG that so pisses me off...

I am so sorry, I just had to vent. Again, I thank God for this site, because after I heard today, I would of thought that I was some nut job..... mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

PS

Live in Fort Lauderdale, if anyone knows of a good doctor in Fort Lauderdale..... Please let me know.... wink.gif

Simple answer. Yes, by all means, change doctors. Their response to you has "we don't care" written all over it.

Good luck and I pray you find someone compassionate & willing to truly help you, which you deserve!

Man, these doctors can really piss off anyone. It aggravates me that they know so much. Hahahaha!

I am glad that you are looking for a new doctor. ONe of the things that I did when searching for a new gyno was I called and asked what the doctor's position on peri was. If the answer was unsatisfactory then I moved on. I finally found a doctor who understood it and is going through it too. She is kind and explains things so I can understand them.

Anyway keep trying and you will find the right doc for you.
Hugs toyou,
Jeaninne

Hey Becca

The doctor is right about there are no accurate tests to test for hormones. In peri ...one minute your hormones are normal...and the next minute or next second they are off the charts.....so the blood tests basically test for that minute they take the blood.

But as far as the anxiety.....Yep..your right its your hormones. She is wrong on that...and we are all proof of it. And also she is wrong on having your period every month means your hormones are fine....the first few years of peri my periods were fine...but I was totally messed up...physically..emotionally and Mentally...so YEP my hormones were screwed up ...BIG FREAKIN TIME. But sometimes the paxil helps some women...and some women choose to ride out the panic and anxiety. I f you havent read the book "Hope & Help for your Nerves" By Dr. Claire Weekes...pick up a copy...she teaches you coping skills for anxiety.

Hang in there kid...it does get better

Peace

Thank you everyone, it means so much to me that I have this forum, it really does. I think of all of the women that are going thru what I we are, and believe in these doctors. Since my Ovulation is now complete, I am getting some clarity back in my head (which is a great thing). I will find the right doctor, and yes will take your advise stitchnanny. God is good though, yesterday I went to Whole Foods (1st time loved it!), and I got a free magazine there. There were actually some doctor's listed in their advertisements that looked kind of promising, so for sure going to check that out.

Thanks again, to everyone. I am so thankful I found all of this information from this site!!!

Blessings on everyone.... biggrin.gif
