Had the biopsy today and it wasn't bad at all. Some mild cramping during the procedure (not too bad) and the entire thing was over with in about 5-7 minutes. Taking the 800mg of ibuprofen an hour beforehand did help, I am sure. I am spotting a bit now, as is to be expected. Doctor said everything (tissue-wise) looked good to him as he was doing it, but we won't know for sure until lab results are back. I have to wait 2 weeks for that! Ugh! He does think my previous spotting problems are due to my fibroid, but he doesn't want to do any surgery on it since I am almost fully menopausal and it should shrink a bit in the near future. That was music to my ears, as I don't want any surgery if I can avoid it. The regular period I had in mid-April was most likely due to a hormonal fluctuation, which many of us have experienced even after months and months of no periods. Up til then, I had gone 15 months with no period. Some day (soon, hopefully) all of this nonsense will be over and done with for good. Thanks to all for your words of encouragement.

I'm glad you biopsy went well today. Too bad we all worry so much about these things. It takes up a lot of our energy! Good luck with the results! smile.gif

Yeah, I kept telling myself - relax, relax. Of course, I was all tensed up and I think that only makes it worse. I felt a few sharp twinges, but that was all. My doctor explained what he was doing each step of the way which helped immensely. Then, all of a sudden I heard him say "All done". Sweet music to my ears. Am lightly spotting which is normal after such a procedure. Should stop in a few days.

I had had a biopsy done about 13 or 14 years ago, but didn't remember much other than it wasn't that bad. Then, I started reading some posts where people were in lots of pain and, of course, I got myself all worked up. Sometimes, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!

I'm not too worried about the results, because my endo lining was only 3mm in mid-March. Then, I had a regular period in mid-April (first one in 15 months) which I think was due to my body releasing some excess estrogen. Began to experience all of the symptoms associated with estrogen production and a period approaching - full feeling in pelvis, tender breasts and then, boom, a real period started!!!! Anyway, as a result my lining was at 10mm in early May, which makes sense if my body was producing extra estrogen for several weeks prior to the period starting.

Then I spotted for 3 weeks, which my doc believes was due to a small fibroid that I still have. I think the estrogen episode that I had caused it to grow a little. The tech pointed it out to me on the ultrasound and she said it was stretching my lining and causing the prolonged spotting. It's not excessively large and doc doesn't want to have to remove it if menopause can ultimately take care of things.

Anyway, in looking at things during the biopsy, my doc said all tissue looked healthy. But microscopic examination will, hopefully, confirm his thoughts.
