I am confused on the best time to take my AD Prozac. I was taking them in the morning because when I first started taking them they overstimulated me so it was hard to sleep. As a year turned into a couple of years of taking it, I started to feel tired, really tired. Finally I nearly weaned off but found myself caught in the never ending pain syndrom of a chronic lower back problem. I am back to uping my dosage and finding myself getting headaches and having a hard time going to sleep at night. I am really taking a super small dose. Maybe 5 mgs every other night and will try to get back up to 10. With my drug phobia, maybe this is all in my head. I just know that when I start taking it everything else feels like crap except for the chronic pain, it takes the edge off of it and it's at least tolerable. It's either that or I resort to pain pills and that options does not thrill me at all. I cannot take NSAIDs because I have a comprimised esophegus. Oh, what to do? Any one have any suggestions.

When I started my dr said the morning was the best time as they can cause sleep problems if you take them at night. It also makes getting through the day easier and more even.

I take mine at night also. I don't find they mess with my sleep, and if I do take them during the day, I need to sleep!! TW is correct, you have to do what works for your body. I am not stimulated by my ADs, I am sedated. If you are stimulated then mornings would be best.
It is interesting that the Prozac helps chronic pain, I didn't know it had that capability. It does make you wonder if the pain is generated by the brain, rather than the body. I have no idea, it is just interesting that it works that way.
I am right at the beginning of the weaning process of my AD. I was taking 20 mgs a day, now I take 10mgs one day and 20 mgs the next. I will do this for a month and see how I feel. If all is well, I will drop it down to 10mgs per day for another month...then 5 one day, 10 the next for another month...then 5 daily, then 5 every other day, then 5 every 3rd day, then none.
Wish me luck!!!!

I take my Effexor about lunchtime. I was taking it before bed because the dr. said it would make me sleepy. It doesn't really, although I do sleep OK and don't wake up with panic attacks in the middle of the night. But I feel like a zombie from waking up until lunch. If I take it noonish, that zombie feeling comes around about 9:30. By then I'm ready for bed.
