I have read post after post about progesterone cream driving people crazy. It did the same for me. I want to inform everyone what I have researched and maybe it can help someone. First of all my experience was this.
I was to take prometrium (100 mg) 12 days of each month. I am also on a estrogen patch. For those 12 days I was a complete basket case, every sympton of estrogen dominance you could mention. I knew I had to take progesterone with estrogen because I still have my uterus. I changed Dr's, one who believed in saliva testing for a hormone profile. I had a hormone profile done and my progesterone was low, so my doctor prescribed a progesterone thru a compound pharmacy. She figured 20 mg daily, well, I had the same symptons, My anxiety, pounding heart, irriatibility was soo bad that I had to go to bed. I read on several websites that for some women progesterone turns immediatly into estrogen, and that if you were using natural progesterone you need to cut your estrogen in half, and I had heard of women using creams and adjusting them to how they felt, so I thought I would try it. I did a web search and found out women were cutting there vivelle dot to adjust estrogen.
I did exactly that, I cut alittle off my vivelle dot and continued my progesterone cream. I have only been doing this a week but so far so good. I do not have near the anxiety, my heart is not pounding out of my chest, I am beginning to feel better.

I am not suggesting anyone do this I am just telling my story.

I sound alot like you. But my strongest symptom is the nausea in the mornings. Almost like being pregnant. My blood work shows estrogen is low. I feel I need some. But bhrt pharmasict says that I don't. THis battle is getting very long and hard.

I am so glad you shared your story. I was using the P cream and E and still feeling lots of anxiety. I cut down on the E
and took a compounded progesterone capsule and felt calm in about a half of a hour. I use the cream to adjust if I
feel the anxiety coming on. The capsules are amazing!!!My sleep is back also.(these are not prometrium) they are
compounded progesterone in olive oil....

Kim

I have been working on adjusting for 8 months............LOL

Hi Kim,

That's interesting about the compounded P capsules. Can you tell us more about them? What dose are you taking? I imagine they are processed through the liver, then? What amount of E were you taking and what did you come down to?
I took Prometrium and tried every which way to make it work with no luck. So, I've switched to cream and while it's nowhere near as bad as the Prometrium, I'd still like to have it on board and feel no fatigue. Maybe I'm just way too calm....:-)
Thanks for your help.
