I am a born pessimist. Can I do something to change my negative thoughts into positive ones? I try very hard not to engage in negative feelings. However hard I may try, I end up with the most antagonistic mental state. This has harmed me in many ways. I really wish I could think better!

I have done some reading on this subject, and one thing you are supposed to do is say positive things out loud. And do it every single day, several times a day. There are always some positive things, maybe it is a nice day, or your fresh laundry smells good, or you ate an apple that was delicious, or your cup of coffee was perfect, or you saw a flower that was pretty, or a child or an animal did something adorable, or you heard a beautiful song.....well you get the idea. There are positives all around us, you just have to make a point of finding them, and then commenting on them out loud.
To improve self esteem, you are also suppose to say positive things to yourself in the mirror....even if you feel stupid doing it..
These simple things supposedly can help your brain start to recognise positives.
Another lesson is to live in the RIGHT NOW, not in the past and not in the future. What is good right now? Enjoy this moment. Perhaps you are enjoying reading this thread....make a point of noting that enjoyment.

www.inspiredwomen.com.au grabbed my attention sometime back while I was surfing the internet. Its ground-breaking research on neuron linguistic programming promises to alter mindsets of people. Apart from this, it also offers hot stone and intuitive (Ancient Hawaii) massages for relaxation and getting a hold on the negativity in your life.
