Hi everyone

Just wanted to let you all know that I had my final hospital check up today and I have been given the all clear from endometrial cancer. I don't have to go back to the hospital any more-HOORAY!
Its been a long hard road but the surgeon has pronounced me cured and given me my first HRT in three years-a low dose estradiol patch.
I don't know how I will do on it but I have just cut it up into eight tiny pieces because I am such a wuss laugh.gif
Just applied my first little one smile.gif

Hugs to you all and thanks to everyone who has supported me from day one!

Thank you EP-yes. I am signed off to my doctor and she will be keeping an eye on me. I am surprised that the surgeon persuaded me to try the patch because I have not been good with estriol. He said he will write to my Doc and tell her I can have anything I want to try if I don't get on with it.
I asked if there was any point in starting HRT now as wouldn't I have to come off it in a couple of years? He said because I dont need progesterone and don't have a uterus I can be on it as long as I wish. Hmmm not sure about that but he is a fantastic surgeon so I trust him.

I dont understand -- You are going to take oestrogen without progesterone? I thought you needed to take Progesterone to counteract the oestrogen regardless of whether you have a uterus or not...

It is such a tiny amount I dont need it . Progesterone is not usually required after a TAH/BSO unless there are problems with E dominance.
Since I am only using the tiniest amount- less than the equivilant of a vagifem a day-there shouldn't be a prob.
I am not going to worry about that today! I just want to enjoy the good news smile.gif

Janet,

I am so happy for you!!! The estradiol is a stronger form of estrogen compared to estriol, just be careful with it. Have you considered taking something like MACA it is an adaptogen which helps your body (adrenals, thyroid, pancreas, etc.) produce and balance hormones. What happens is when our adrenals and thyroid are taxed, they cannot make the hormones needed for us to feel balanced.

Anyway, I just started MACA about a week ago and while I have some symptoms, they are much improved. PM me is you would like more info., I am taking lots of supplements but I definitely saw a difference when I started the MACA.

All the best,

Plumeria

Thanks Emma
I have cut the patch down and at present I am not noticing anything untoward. Within minutes of applying estriol I always get a rush and a woolly head so I think I must be very sensitive to just estriol. I have been using testosterone for about 18 months and I have been told that some is converted to estradiol by the body. So maybe my body is used to it already.

Yes I have heard of MACA. I have tried so many different things in the past three years and none of them helped. However of course if I decide to try it I now know where to come for info and thank you for your advice.
I hope you are doing ok with your own cancer issue by the way?
Bless you

Thats ok EP-you WERE being helpful . I have just already done a bit of reasearch and many women who have had full surgery don't need Progesterone. For the few who do it is something that should be embarked upon carefully as it can cause terrible depression.
Its just one baby step at a time for me at present. All advice appreciated anyway so thank you smile.gif
