Hello everyone. I'm 44 and menopausal. My last period was approximately 4 years ago. I occassionally get hot flashes during the day and the odd hot clammy night sweats (which to a certain degree I can live with). I have recently started having cold sweats in the early hours of the morning which really disturb me & break my sleep. What I would like to know is if cold sweats are a typical symptom of menopause and if so what can I take to alleviate this symptom?
Thanks in advance for your replies. Bella

Dear 'bellagee'
A big warm welcome to the site. Both cold and hot sweats are very common in Menopause and are a total nuisance. However I believe Primrose Oil is supposed to bring relief.I hope some of the other ladies have more suggestions to give you/Also avoid caffeine, sugary foods and alcohol.Get your Hormone and Thyroid levels tested so you can work out a plan to alleviate your symptoms.

Don't worry
You are not alone
Please keep us posted

Thank you so much Elizabeth! I had my thyroid tested a couple of months ago and results came back as normal. I will certainly ask my doctor to check my hormones as I haven't had them tested in a while & I'll also start taking Evening Primrose Oil. Will let you know how I go. Thank you again. Love, Bella x

WTH is a cold sweat?

Dear'Fried'
It is when the body sweats all over but you feel cold and shivery as opposed to hot and clammy.Have experienced this and the chills can make your teeth chatter.

Hello....

When you get hot flashes or cold night sweats, it shows that there is not enough Estrogen in your body. If you are already on bios, then you do not have enough estrodiol in the mix.

If you are not on bios, you might give them a try. I am a new women because of them. LOL!

You need a balance of Estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone.

They should invent a blanket that throws itself off the bed every 30 minutes and then puts it back on. LOL!

There are also some herbs that will help. These have been shown to be effective, too.

By the way...nobody sleeps during meno/peri-meno time. LOL!

A product was just suggested to me at my pharmacy and I tried it last night for the first time and it seemed to work. It is for night sweats and hot flashes. The name of it is KLIMAKT-HEEL. It is a natural product from Germany. Worth a try! They have a website.
