I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm having a problem with constant nausea. It started in January and has been almost every day since. It is the worst in the morning and I do vomit some days. Sometimes it's gone by noon, other days not until 3 or 4 pm. I feel great in the evening and can eat just fine. Then it starts over the next day. I have seen 3 MD's including a GI specialist and had every test done you can imagine. CT scans, endoscopy, tons of blood work etc. all costing a small fortune and no answers. Every test is normal. So they all give up and call it "my nerves" My life it not that stressful but I do feel anxiety due to my hormones, that started 2 years ago. I am at the point I dread mornings and think how can I go on like this. I can't make any plans I barely crawl through my part time job. I'm losing weight and am sooooooo tired All I want to do is sleep. I take prozac 20 mg and ativan as needed for the anxiety, but was on both of them before the nausea started. My diet is very bland and I have tried cutting out different foods, NOTHING helps.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas to help me feel better? I would think I was pregnant if I didn't have a uterine ablasion and my tubes tied. It feels like the morning sickness I had many yrs ago, only there's no rerward in 9 months:) If anyone had this and it passed let me know too. I need encouragement, this is really getting me down and my life is on hold and I'm only 50.

I don't have this but my mother started this about 5 years ago-also had all the tests and they ended up saying it's IBS-She recently started having hot flashes! She's 85-I was with her when she saw an endocronologist and asked him if this could be hormonal at her age.He all but laughed at me.She was out to lunch with an 83 year old friend the other day who told her that she has hot flashes and her doctor says it's hormonal-Sooooooo-I think it can all be related to crazy hormone flucuations-I'm sorry you have to put up with this. I know from my mom how very frustrating it is to feel lousy all the time.I hope it resolves for you.

Dear Lulu,
Sorry to hear that you're having a difficult time right now with the nausea. Peppermint helped and so did ginger, sometimes I made a tea and sometimes I just ate the ginger or mint!
Hope You Feel Better Soon!

I have just started having nausea. Mine is sporadic, comes and goes, but it is fierce when it is here.I have also started having terrible gas and bloating and I just feel lousy most of the time. I notice the symptoms are all related to when the hot flashes are bad so I assume it is hormones. This is the worst for me so far. I am 52 and haven't had a period in 2 years. Good luck to you, we are all in this together. I am just beginning the process of having all of the tests because Dr's never believe that hormones can cause this stuff, they seem to think that the only menopause symptom is hot flashes.

Oh, I feel for you. I had nausea everyday for a year! Now it just comes sporadically. Ginger and peppermint helped me. The best relief came from peeling a ginger root - use a piece about the size of 1/2 of your little finger. Then, after peeling it, cut it up very small - or shred. Then add this to a couple of cups of boiling water. Let boil for a couple minutes, cover and let steep for at least 10 minutes. Then, strain and drink the water ... it was a big help! I hope you get relief. Kathleent

this was my first meno symptom ( although I did have palps previously I did not attribute them to peri )
i was nauseous (sp?) yes the morning sickness kind for months on end. This happened shortly after I started skipping periods. It lasted for many months and then subsided. Like you I had every test in the book - sonograms, endoscopies, poop samlpes - you name it and nothing was found until I had my hormones tested and I could see that I was squarley in peri and all he** was breaking loose. During that time I tried much to help for ex. ginger tea, ginger caps, pepsid (my doc gave me no idea why) among other remedies. Eventually it went away by itself after I lost about 12 pounds. I have had it since then only occassionally and now know what it is so it doesn't frighten me as much.
If you put nausea in the search box on this site you will get a bunch of community and advice on this issue.
It is one of the "39" symptoms of peri.
best to you for healing... pooks

pooks, would you share with us how you lost the 12 pounds? I have begun to have horrible bloating. I had it last year then it went away (after I got my period and then went on BHRT - then I went off BHRT and it came back - I'm starting back on again because I have a big trip - but I still have this giant stomach. I look 3 months pregant. its horrific. I am vegetarian, work out 1 hr a day and have my whole life and I do not eat much at all. I was just tested for food allergies. haven't gotten results yet. nothing seems to get rid of this giant stomach or the weight I have put on. help! How did you lose 12 pounds?

Saba:
i lost the weight only because I was nauseous and could not eat. As soon as the nausea subsided I gained the lbs right back. I have to be very vigilant about what I eat in order to not gain weight. Genetics dont work in my favor as my mother has always struggled with her weight as did my dad. I know its really difficult to "spot reduce" even with a targeted exercise protocal but that is something you might try. Have you talked to your gastro or gyno about this? Also as a vegetarian are you eating many grains and veggies which may be bloating. I know that when i spent some time at a yoga retreat with a vegan menu (delish!) I was bloated and gassy all the time.
Start a thread about your issue on the boards and maybe you'll get some better answers.
