I'm hoping someone can answer my questions about taking homones. My doc seriously charges $200-$400 a visit and WILL NOT answer any questions on phone. She is one of the docs in Suzanne Sommers books. Wish they took insurance and wish they really wanted to help us. Anyway, she prescribed EstroGel 0.06 once a day at night and Progesterone slow release 50 mg once a day at night. If estrogel gives you energy shouldn't I use it in the morning? I'm on the 3rd day of my period so do I start this after I am done or can I start it right now. I want to change over to Pete and have him work with my gyno that takes insurance. Anyone have good results with him?
I'm hoping that taking the bio's i can relieve some of the physical symptoms-tingling, muscle stiffness and anxiety.
Thanks for the help girls!!!

Call the compounding pharmacy that you ordered you ht from. They should be able to answer your questions and if they can't/won't THEY will have to call your doc!!! Outrageous what these docs get away with.

As for the energy from the E, I split my estrace cream into 2 doses (but most at night) cause it also helps me to sleep. Re: the P - I have no idea what to suggest with that one in regard to your period. Some women say it helps them sleep while in my cause it gave me unrelenting insomnia - among other probs. Good luck and call the pharmacy. Regards, Jzz

Dear Mat,

Okay, first of all that makes me so very angry that she refuses to answer questions like this, WTH! You are paying her good money for some answers, and she has the nerve to blow you off...can you say new doctor! ohmy.gif

You can start the E now and wait on the P, however, as suggested I take my E in the morning and another dose in the afternoon, not at night! Usually, people are prescribed P from day 14 through day 27 of their cycle and that is taken at night to assist with sleep.

In regards to Pete, after 6 years of trying to get hormones he helped me to get my BHRT! He gave me an order after faxing him all of my information and doing a history on me. I then took the order to several physicians, and finally got an OB/GYN to sign off on them, CAN YOU SO OH HAPPY DAY!!!! biggrin.gif So, please give him a call and he will be happy to help you!

Good Luck to You,

I just got back from endo and told her my woes about hormones and my hormone doc. She went over all of my bloodwork. she agrees with the hormones doc put me on and said she would help me with the ups and downs. COST-$35. And will tweek-how do you spell that word? the dosage OVER the phone. After paying a total of $1500 that is a way nice discovery. I'm calling Pete and getting his advise and will change over to him as far as prescription is concerned. Thanks girls for responding!!! I love this site.

matclan,

Just wanted to add that I agreed with the gals that suggested Estrogel in the morning, or split morning and afternoon. I personally take mine in the morning as I always seem to forget the afternoon dose. If you are more organized than I am, break it into two doses. I always took my P at night, and I slept like a rock for the most part.

Unfortunately, recently I discovered the oral P was wrecking havoc on my liver and have swapped it to vaginal for now - until I see a gyn - and I am not having the solid rock sleep.....on the bright side, I have lost weight, I feel better overall, I have more energy. I think the P was causing these issues and I didn't realize it until I changed how I am using it. I was so sick with menopause that I didn't even notice I wasn't feeling great on the P, I mean I was WAY better than I had been.

I was happy to hear you found a new doctor that isn't going to extort money out of you like that other one!!

Floater,
I am so glad to hear that the changes you made are making you feel better! There is a reason P is known as the "make you fat, make you sad" hormone. I consider it evil ph34r.gif (for me)

I am using Pete'e pharmacy...and a very pleased with the service.

My doc says that I can do hormones at any time....day or night.

However, I have found by the Lab Rat Trial and Error System

that I should take my E & P & teosterone. in the morning.

The Pregnenolong makes me sleepy????? I take it at night.

Also DHEA at night. If I take DHEA in the morning, I feel blah all day. I have cut down on the DHEA. I can't figure out why it would do this to me, but it does.

Floater if your still there or read this again how much P were you taking? I am going to do the E in the morning cause it makes sense if it gives you energy. Mine is a spray so I guess I can't divide it up. I will watch my liver. My bilirubin is always high due to the fact that I have gilberts disease. I go back to doc in 3 months to redo the blood work. Thanks for replies. It sooooo helpds!!!!!!!

mat,

I was taking 100 mgs of Prometrium continuous therapy.

Definitely keep an eye on those liver enzymes, I had no idea I was having an issue until my normal annual checkup!!! But I was pretty bloated, looked horrible, felt FAT, had gained a huge amount of weight since I started it. Blamed it on the anti depressant, but now I am positive it was the prometrium. It is a legit side effect for some people. I hope you don't suffer the same fate!!!
