Hello Everyone I have some good news to share. I'm 45 and have experienced PAC's because of my pre-menopause. I also have been to a cardiologist and been put on Toprol for over 4 years becasue of the Pac's. I have researched this heart condition for about as long as I've experienced PAC's. Here's the good news I have been seeing a Naturopath for the past 6 months and all my PAC's have literally stopped. I might have one or two around my period time but that is it. I would have 100's of Pac's just before my period and during. They would start 2 weeks before and stop just about 4 days in. I started going to a Naturapath because I heard that taking heart medication for PAC's is really bad for a heart that is not damaged. Taking drugs like Toporol for this condition could actually make things worse.

Please open your phone book or Google naturapath in your area. Try to find a women naturopath they really understand our cycles and the reason why we get palps when we are going through premenopause or even menopause. The Naturopath will put you on herbs and natural vitamins that will give your body what is lacking. I swear to you this really works.

By the way I do not take Toporal anymore.

Also please take check of your Thyroid glands...have them checked by having a blood test...this is also very important. Thyroid problems are also one main reason for palp's and weight loss or gain.

If you need any further information please email me and I will try to give all the info I can.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info, Cath. Glad you were able to get rid of those things.

I also had palps and episodes of racing heart, and SVT (ended up in the ER a few times for this), but I would also have palps and racing that were not SVT. It all started about the time my hormones started going wonky and also when I started having thyroid problems. Correcting both of these has pretty much taken care of them. Strangely enough, I was hypothyroid, but when you read symptoms fast HR is usually considered to be a symptoms of hypERthyroid.

But if I skip my estrogen, they come back, or if I'm dehydrated they come back. Making sure my potassium and magnesium were adequate helped some but not as much as the other things.

Can you share exactly what your naturapath had to do/take?

Hi Sariah,

I have also had SVT. I had two ablations surgeries to correct the SV Node and stop the extra pathway. So far so good, no SVT. I also had to go to the emergency room a few times, my heart rate would get up to 220 bpm. Scared me...still does when I think about them.

To give you info on the Naturopath....she has me taking:

1. Menocaps...1 cap 2 times a day
2. Progonal Cream...1/4 tsp 2 times a day-2nd 1/2 of my cycle
3. Thyro Complex...1 Cap every morning
4. Fem Premenstrual...2 Tablets, 2x a day on the same schedule as the Progonal Cream

Plus I take 1 Kelp Tablet Daily...For thyroid and calcium benefits
1 Magnesium and vitamin B complex

I also started drinking soy milk(chocolate)......loaded with vitamin B and Protien.

I see my naturopath once a month....she keeps a record of everything I am going through. My biggest reason for going was to help my heart stop skipping, anxiety, irritability and premenopause. The heart doctor I was seeing wasn't helping me find the real reason for these problems, just writing me perscriptions for beta blockers. Taking time for me and finding the cause of why and then correcting the problem was my goal. So far i have been pleased. I still get irritable at times but I truly feel much better.

I hope this helps..

Cath
