Anyone using anything or have any suggestions to help with osteoarthritis in my knees?

Hi there,
Well, this damp weather isn't helping is it? All I know about getting better are exercises that I did at physical therapy last year which strengthen the thighs so it helps take pressure off the knees. If they are stronger, the knees get a rest. I will try to find them and pm them to you if you are interested. I went from not being able to squat and barely bend to totally bending again. I also used heat first for 10 minutes to loosen up and then they suggested cold packs to stop inflammation for 10 when I was done. I have tried glucosamine, but am not convinced at all. It may not hurt, but for the cost, why bother if it doesn't work? How is your tmj, I have been in pain there too, really bad. tried a burger and whew! bad news.

Hello Enough:). Please pm those exercises. I've been walking 3-4 days a week anywhere from 30-50 minutes. Right now I have to skip a day after exercising to allow my knees to rest because of the stiffness.

My tmj was bothering today, but I think it's from eating cashews yesterday. It might also be from stress since I had to take my final exam for a class that I'm taking. I was unaware of tensing up my jaw or muscles, but I did notice that my jaw was hurting after I completed the exam.

I look forward to getting those exercises and trying them out smile.gif. I prefer natural remedies whenever possible.

I have to find where I put these exercises, which may take a while, but I will try to get them to you today sometime. Feel better.

I use a cream on my knees when they get real bad...its Natrol MSM with Glucosamine.
If you're interested I'll PM you and give you the link to a place you can order it from. I haven't been able to find it in the stores for a very long time. But it does make my knees feel better...I usually rub it on at night before going to bed and the next morning they feel pretty good.

I highly recommend ACUPUNCTURE!! Doctors at Mayo Clinic concur it is especially helpful for osteoarthritis of the knee. I can't even bend down and after 3 treatments the pain is gone.

Blessings,

Wendy

Good morning,
I haven't found the exercises yet, but i am checking some web sites for some. Here is one link that uses what I did. I'll keep checking. Also, I had alot of success with the acupuncture last year with my jaw, I was barely able to open it and after the first treatment it was so much better and after three really good. It's just too pricey for me.
