Hi ladies,

I'm on day two of cycling with compounded progesterone 50 mg. per night for 10 nights from what I understand. I have been on bi-est f alone for two straight months now--started out with .625 mg. of biest daily but that wasn't helping WITH THE INSOMNIA so my gyn upped it to 1 mg. per day of biest. Seems like that isn't really helping either. Insomnia is my only complaint with menopause--that and feeling warmer then normal most of the time.
MY QUESTION IS THIS.....DO I STOP TAKING THE BIEST WHEN I AM CYCLINnG WITH THE PROGESTERONE????? OR DO I CONTINUE TO TAKE MY REGULAR DOSES OF THE BIEST AND ADD THE PROGEST AT NIGHT FOR TEN DAYS. I WOULD LOVE TO FIGURE THIS ALL OUT. WITH I DIDN'T HAVE TO TAKE THE PROGEST AT ALL. I AM SO CONFUSED AND THE CONFUSION HAS MADE ME SCARED TO DEATH. PROGESTERONE DOES NOT LIKE ME AND MY BODY DOES NOT LIKE IT. I GET CANDIDA SYMPTOMS IMMEDIATELY AND TERRIBLE AGGRAVATION WITH MY CROHNS DISEASE.

PLEASE, PLEASE CAN SOMEONE LEAD ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. GOD BLESS AND THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CAN HELP ME WITH ANY ANSWERS. AVALINA

Hi ladies,

biest daily but that wasn't helping WITH THE INSOMNIA

I'm pretty sure you stay with the biest for the dreaded 10 days. I'm sorry the progesterone is so hard on you. As you probably know, there are many women here who absolutely detest the stuff.

What I wanted to say concerns biest and your sleep problems. Estriol pumps me full of hyper-energy and I never ever apply it after 2:00 or so, for that reason. I have a hard enough time sleeping as it is, and estriol will make it impossible. Could this have been a contributor, I wonder, to your sleep problems? Biest has something like 80% estriol and 10% estradiol (which helps with sleep). Aside from your awful progesterone reaction, when things clear up, it might be a good experiment for you to make your second dose earlier in the day. Or, if it's feasible, have them Rx'd separately.

Hi there,
Yep-the progesterone is murderous on my system. I have had bad gastro problems and just feel achy all over--I've got six more days of this then I am done. I am only taking 50 mg. of the progest. I hope that is enough. But then again I am only taking a little over 1 mg. of the bi-est.
Thanks for your advice about using the bi-est earlier in the day--That very well could be one of the reasons for my insomnia. I go to bed not feeling tired at all. ALs0-I think for my next prescription I will try 30% estradiol and 70% estriol. I wonder if that 10 percent will make a difference where sleep is concerned. I wonder if anyone does 60/40? Anyhow--thanks so much for the advice. I really really appreciate. I'm going to keep taking the biest while cycling for 10 days with my progest--then I will go sixty days without the progest--yippee. thanks
