Hi,

I started on my testosterone cream about a week ago. I was only taking 1/2 my dose to start. Yesterday I went up in the am. from 1/4 ml. to 1/2 ml. Last nite I started feeling bad. I got ALOT of anxiety. Now this am. I put the 1/2 ml. on and my anxiety is horrifying right now to the point I can't breath. I have been well known for reacting to different things. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a horrible anxiety reaction to T. I'll put my blood test results in case that would help.

It was made at a compounding pharmacy.

I am going to contact my dr. soon, but I think it would really help me if I saw that other people had this sort of reaction. I'm underestimating this too, because I am REALLY bad right now.

I am new to testosterone so not a lot help with personal experience, but when I use too much I feel very wired, but I wouldn't call it anxiety.

I just read one of my books (can't remember which doc it was) but they said that with T, you should start out with very small doses and only increase it by small amounts if necessary every week. You might only need a little bit.

I just got off the phone with the compounding pharmacist and wanted to report what he told me. First off he said that dose is probably just to high for me. The other thing that he said was that T can convert into E. Now that I didn't know. I've pretty much been reading all the same books that my ps sisters have been reading, but I haven't read that, or at least I don't remember that.

Here's the thing for me. I do really really well with my P, unlike alot of woman here. My E is low too, and when I started my E cream I went into some kind of psychosis, it was bad. So, I put more P on and within 10 minutes I was fine. So after what the pharmacist said, it would make perfect sense, at least in my situation that the T did convert into E and I had this horrable reaction.

So today I added more P, and the worst of the anxiety is gone, although believe me it's still with me, but I'll just have to wait for it to get out of my system now. He told me to go off it for a week, and when I re-introduce to stay at the 1/4 ml level.

It really did magnify all my other symptoms that I have as well. Like my hands get really super cold, and today they got purple, and I couldn't breath very well either. I am also now taking iosol for my thyroid and I just started on naturethroid yesterday.

I'm still interested to know if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks Sarah for your reply!

Oh my gosh, it could be the iosol. How much are you taking? Have you ever had your thyroid antibodies tested? Or gotten a TSI level (thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin)? Because people that are positive for those 2 things can go hyper really easily with too much iodine. I would totally stop it for awhile. How much are you taking? Iodine made me very hyper and anxious.

No, I don't think it's the iosol, I've been on that for about a month now. I just do 2 drops twice a day, and I've been fine with that. She did an idodine test on me in her office. If it absorbs within 4-6 hours you are deficient, mine absorbed in 10 minutes, so I was really deficient. I have had my TSH, TSI checked as well as my t-3, t-4, and free t-3 t-4. I'm hypothyroid, even by the symptoms I am.

How much iodine were you taking when you wigged out? The T was the only thing I changed the last couple of days. It was yesterday when I upped it, and this whole episode started. I'm alot more calm now then I was earlier, since I added more P. I'm in adrenal exhaustion bad too, so I'm on a protocol for that.

All this stuff for me started when I went through an antidepressant withdrawl like 4 years ago, it was a complete & total nightmare. Now, to rear it's ugly head again. I know when I went through my withdrawl is when my adrenals went into exhaustion and that set all my hormones off. Now, I'm just tweak, tweak, tweaking!

I hate to tell you this, but that particular method of iodine testing is not reliable at all. I would not trust it. And 2 drops a day for a month can build up. You may want to get your thyroid levels checked, TSH, free T3, free T4.

My doc & I only used this form of iodine testing as one tool. Beings it did absorb incredibly quick it just added another reassurance that I did need the iosol. I did have all my other thyroid tests done, and I am hypo as I reported before. The anxiety that I felt from uping my T dose has subsided since yesterday & it's almost gone. So, it was the T that caused it, and not the iosol. I'm just glad it went away! Thanks for your reply's
