huh.gif This is my first post on this forum. I am 54 and in menopause, haven't had a period in almost 2 years due to an Endometrial Ablation procedure. I was able to live with the hot flashes until recently. My gyn did bloodwork and my FSH is now quite high, thus very little estrogen left. I do not want HRT or anti depressants to help the hot flashes, so my dr. advised me to try Black Cohosh. I would like to hear from those of you out there who have tried this herb.... good or bad. I am also taking Klonopin .5 mg at night (for 10 years) and Toprol XL 100 mg at night. I have heard that Black Cohosh can lower the blood pressure. Any info would be helpful. Haven't started the Black Cohosh yet.

Welcome to PS! Be sure to check out all the PS articles which have suggestions as to how to alleviate many of the discomforts of peri.

I've known women who do quite well on black cohosh, but I would stick to a well-known, standardized brand. Remifemin and Oona are excellent.

However, I and some women can't take it. Every time I've tried, it makes me cry and be very emotional.

So give it a try and see what happens.
